Introduction

Hello witches and wizards, and welcome to Part 1 of our Walkthrough for Ticket to Love Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery!

This adventure is available for students of Year 5 and above, and during it, you will learn about the special competition organized by the Hogwarts Express Railway Authority. You will set off on a quest to learn everything about love in order to win a special prize for you and the person dear to your heart.

Once you start the adventure, you must attend Potions class, so proceed to the classroom when you are ready.

Walkthrough

[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 7 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 5 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]

When you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of your classmates. Tap them if you want to see what they have to say. Penny will greet you cheerfully. She will look very excited about reviewing the Babbling Beverage. You’ll find it slightly odd that she’s so excited about the lesson.

The reason your friend is so excited is that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. She’ll grin cheekily and say she is looking forward to spending some time with you. Penny will find it hard to hold her excitement.

She’ll name a few things she’s excited about. Your Hufflepuff friend will be curious to know what you are most looking forward to on Valentine’s Day. There are three options to choose from. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to go with the option you prefer.

Penny will tell you she heard a rumor that the upcoming Valentine’s Day could be the best one so far. You’ll be curious about that rumor. As it seems, it is about some special Valentine’s Day event. Penny will decide to tell you all about it during the class. Brewing the Babbling Beverage requires earning one star within three hours (one hour and three stars for Year 5 Chapter 13-Year 6 Chapter 23 and three hours and three stars for Year 6 Chapter 24+ ).

Make sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There are bonus actions tied to Penny and Barnaby. Prioritize those if you want to save some energy.

You will learn that Millicent Bagnold is going to have a special announcement in Hogsmeade. According to Penny, the announcement has something to do with the Hogwarts Express.

Professor Snape will notice that the two of you are chatting. He’ll be curious to know if you’re working on your potion. Penny will tell him that both of you are working hard on brewing the Babbling Beverage. Unfortunately, Snape will find that hard to believe.

You’ll admit to talking about the upcoming Valentine’s Day surprise at Hogsmeade. Penny will ask him if he knows anything about it. Snape will say, in his own way, that he does not particularly like Valentine’s Day. You will wonder why is that. He’ll remind you that students should be focusing on their schoolwork.

He will also say that you’ll learn more about love as you grow older. According to him, love is a painful curse, and students should not throw themselves into it blindly. You’ll quickly realize that the Potions classroom is not the place to talk about Valentine’s Day. Penny will remind you there are plenty of nice things to look forward to when it comes to this lovely holiday.

However, she will agree that you should discuss it elsewhere. You’ll suggest going to Hogsmeade Station as soon as the class ends.

Penny will like this idea. Make your way to Hogsmeade Station when you are ready to proceed. Once there, you will be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say. You’ll notice that some of your friends are there. Tulip will be the first to greet you. You will tell her you are curious about Millicent Bagnold’s announcement.

Unfortunately, she won’t know the details.

You’ll see that Penny is not there. Tulip will tell you that she arrived before you. Moments later, Millicent Bagnold will start her announcement.

The following lines will differ slightly, based on your current progress of the main story.

Millicent Bagnold will say that the Hogwarts Express will be holding a special essay contest for Valentine’s Day. Anyone who decides to enter the contest can submit their essay, and the winner will be chosen by the judges. Madam Bagnold will then start explaining the rules of the competition.

Learning the details of the contest requires earning one star within three hours (five stars for Year 5 Chapter 17+). Avoid starting this task if you are low on energy.

Make sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There are reward actions tied to Andre and Madam Bagnold. Prioritize those if you want to save some energy.

Apparently, there will be quite a unique prize for whoever manages to win the competition.

Your previous choice will take effect here.

Tulip will be confident that you have what it takes to write and present a winning essay. Still, you will be unsure where to start. Your Ravenclaw friend will give you an interesting suggestion.

After thinking about it for a moment, you will decide to go to the library and read everything you can find about love. Go there when you are ready to move on. It seems that you and Penny had the same idea.

You will tell her about your plan to research love. She’ll apologize for missing you at the station earlier. You’ll ask if she is also going to enter the competition.

Penny will tell you that she’s not planning to do that since she wants to support a “special someone”. If you are exclusively dating Penny (meaning you have a relationship level 7 or higher with her and have completed her special adventure), you’ll get some additional lines of dialogue.

She’ll say that you can count on her to help you win the contest. Shortly after, the two of you will begin your research. Penny will gather all the books on love she can find, including those written by Gilderoy Lockhart.

You will find that she has a high opinion of Gilderoy Lockhart. In her opinion, you might find some interesting things about love in his works.

The following line will differ, based on whether or not you are exclusively dating Penny.

Learning about love requires earning one star within three hours (three stars for Year 5 Chapter 17+).

There is a bonus action tied to Penny, so focus on her actions if you want to save a bit of energy.

Even after reading some wonderful stories about love, you won’t be quite sure what to write in your essay. The only thing you will be sure about is that everyone has their own interpretation of love. Unfortunately, you won’t simply be able to copy what’s written in the books. You’ll need something new and unique.

Penny will suggest looking beyond the books to find a fresh perspective.

She’ll show you a flyer she found in one of the books. As it seems, Gilderoy Lockhart will soon be doing a signing at Flourish and Blotts. Penny will suggest you go there and talk to him. Who knows, you might be able to learn something interesting…

If you’ve met Gilderoy Lockhart before, you’ll get some additional lines of dialogue.

Penny will decide to stay in the library and study while you go to Flourish and Blotts. You’ll kindly thank her for helping you. The only thing she will ask in return will be to think of her when you decide who to bring on the train ride.

She’ll ask if you’ve already made up your mind about that. There are two options to reply with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, but if you like Penny, it is recommended to pick the second option.

Shortly after, you will leave the library. You will need to wait two hours before you can continue. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime. Proceed to Flourish and Blotts once the waiting time is over.

Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you want to see what they say. You will notice a large crowd of people waiting to meet Gilderoy Lockhart.

You’ll be surprised to see Merula. She will tell you she wants to check some new books. Unfortunately, she isn’t able to get to the shelves because of the crowd.

You’ll realize that getting to Lockhart won’t be an easy task. You will tell Merula about the essay you’re writing.

Unfortunately, you might not get the chance to talk to Gilderoy Lockhart. The Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts will decide to do something about it.

You’ll wonder what she’s planning to do. She will say that she is going to get you to the front of the line. Getting to the front of the line requires earning one star within three hours (three hours and five stars for Year 5 Chapter 17+).

This task is divided into three parts. You will start near the end of the line, and filling up the star meter will get you closer to Lockhart. There is one bonus progress action tied to a Ravenclaw student next to Merula. Prioritize this action to save a bit of energy.

Once you are done, you will find yourself standing at the front of the line.

The following lines will differ, based on whether or not this is your first time meeting Gilderoy Lockhart.

He’ll wonder if you brought him a book or an item for him to sign. You will say that there is another reason why you wanted to see him. You will ask him if he has heard about the essay contest. He will nod and say that he knows about it.

Lockhart will find out that you need his help to win the contest. You’ll tell him that you need a fresh perspective to write a truly remarkable essay. Lockhart will say that he cannot do your work for you. You’ll ask him to tell you where he gets his ideas.

He will advise you to talk to other people. That way, you should be able to come up with some exciting ideas. Lockhart will give you a few more pointers on how to get a fresh perspective.

He’ll be certain that some of your friends will be eager to help you with the essay. You’ll tell him that one friend of yours is already helping you by doing research. Lockhart will advise you to ask your friend for her ideas about love.

He’ll then politely remind you that a whole crowd of his fans is eager to meet him. You will head back to the library and talk to Penny about love.
