The sea serpent will behave in a friendly manner, and Hagrid will ask what you think of it. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Following that, Barnaby will say that in the old muggle tales, sea serpents were always destroying ships and gobbling up sailors, while Hagrid will disagree and say that muggles have come up with a lot of silly stories about that creature.

Hagrid will then explain why he invited you, saying that he needs your help. However, you will respond that you can’t be of much use until you learn a bit more about sea serpents. To learn about sea serpents, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

Hagrid will then explain that he has a problem: the sea serpent, despite them creating a very large and nice place for it, keeps going towards the Black Lake. Every time it goes there, it causes a lot of damage. He adds that you need to find out the reason for its trips there.

Just at that moment, the creature will leave its place and head towards the Black Lake.

Go to the Lakeshore to continue the story. When you arrive there, you will see the sea serpent by the shore.  However, Mr. Filch will be scared when he sees the creature.

Mr. Filch will start trying to convince you that the sea serpent is a monster and that it tried to eat him. There are three options to choose from. If you like Mr. Flich, it is recommended to pick the second option.

He will then say that he knows more about sea serpents than you and that he has read a lot about them. He will still be strongly convinced that they are very dangerous creatures. However, you will decide to persuade him that sea serpents will not harm anyone.

To defend the sea serpent, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

In the end, you will manage to convince Mr. Filch that sea serpents are not as bloodthirsty as he believes. That will give you the idea that the sea serpent came to the Black Lake in search of food, so you’ll want to investigate that. Mr. Filch will advise you to go to the bottom of the lake to find out if the creature is there because of food.

However, before you begin, Professor Flitwick will want to know your intentions, adding that the bottom of the Black Lake is full of perils and students are not allowed to venture so deep. He will ask why Barnaby and he should help you. There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

In any case, the professor will say that you have a good reason why they should help you, adding that they will assist only if you are very careful and avoid unnecessary risks.
