VIDEO ADVERTISEMENT

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough section for A Day for Fawkes Part 2 of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous part, you and Tonks set out to honour Fawkes the phoenix with a grand celebration. After convincing Professor Dumbledore and even receiving what seemed like Fawkes’s approval, you began planning a magical event that would include fireworks, an educational lesson, and a school-wide art contest.

However, things got a bit heated — literally — when an accidental firework nearly caused chaos. Mr Filch wasn’t impressed and stormed off to report the incident. With Tonks stepping up to take responsibility, it’s now up to you to keep the celebration on track. Will your efforts to honour Fawkes still soar, or will things come crashing down? Let’s find out in Part 2!

Proceed to the Training Grounds when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll see that the art event is ready to begin — students are gathered around their canvases and sketchpads, eagerly preparing to capture their visions of Fawkes. You are hopeful that Tonks’s conversation with Professor Dumbledore goes smoothly and that he won’t cancel the entire celebration.

You’ll walk over to Badeea. If you haven’t met her yet, you’ll exchange a few lines of introduction.
In any case, she’ll say that Professor Dumbledore told her about your and Tonks’s idea, and she immediately signed up to volunteer, adding that Fawkes is a most inspiring subject.

You’ll add that both students and faculty of Hogwarts will vote on their favourite pieces of art, and that the winner will be announced at the end of your celebration, just before the fireworks display.

Following that, you’ll propose officially beginning the event and inviting everyone to start creating their Fawkes-inspired masterpieces.

To make Fawkes art, you need to earn five stars within three hours. The five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Badeea will approach you and say that your painting is truly brilliant, then she’ll curiously ask what you would name your artwork. Choose the one you like the most.

Following that, she will ask you what aspect of Fawkes you find most inspiring. There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

Tonks will then come up to you and say she has both good and bad news. The good news is that she hasn’t been expelled from school. The bad news is that she’s been given detention and won’t be allowed near the fireworks for a while.

She’ll also mention more good news: Professor Dumbledore has given you permission to go to Diagon Alley to purchase new fireworks for the show. But the bad news is that Filch will be going with you.

Go to the Hogsmeade Train Station to travel to Diagon Alley. You’ll meet Filch on the train ride to Diagon Alley. As expected, he’ll grumble about your event, clearly showing he’d love nothing more than for it to fail.

Then, he’ll mention that the Headmaster asked him to bring some books and parchment for you, saying it might help you pass the time more quickly on the journey. You’ll thank him and decide to start working on the speech you’ll deliver at the end of the event, while also trying to convince Filch that this celebration is meaningful and not a waste of time.

Filch will ask you to name at least one thing about your phoenix that might impress him. No matter what you choose, it won’t convince him.

You’ll get another chance to convince him. Whatever you say, he will eventually admit that the phoenix does have some impressive abilities.

Talking with Filch, you’ll realize that his real issue is the fireworks. You’ll reassure him that the event will turn out well and that he’ll enjoy it in the end. Shortly after, you’ll arrive in Diagon Alley, but Filch will remind you not to waste too much time and to return as soon as possible.

Proceed to Diagon Alley when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say.

When you arrive, you’ll see Hagrid and Fawkes, who have clearly come to visit you. Hagrid will comment that Fawkes came to check on your progress. He’ll also mention that there’s something he wants to discuss with you, adding that he’s heard some alarming rumors that he needs to share.

To discover the rumours, you need to earn five stars within three hours. The five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

The bonus progress actions are tied to Hagrid. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

You learn from Hagrid that there has been a string of magical burglaries in Diagon Alley. Not everything of value gets taken, just a few special items here and there. No one has a clue who the burglar is, and the whole situation has put everyone on edge. Hagrid will then ask for your opinion on the matter.

There are two different options to choose from. Both options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

In any case, you’ll say goodbye to Hagrid and decide to get on with your shopping at the new Gambol and Japes Shop.

Go to the Gambol and Japes to continue the story. There, you’ll be greeted by a massive joke shop with a truly authentic and whimsical look.

Filch will ask if this is the sort of place that appeals to you. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Following that, you’ll be approached by Bilton Bilmes. If you haven’t met him before, you’ll get a few extra lines of introductory dialogue. In any case, you’ll be surprised to see him there, since he’s usually associated with Zonko’s Joke Shop.

He’ll explain that he goes where he’s needed most, adding that the shopkeeper here ran afoul of a Giant Dungbomb and will be out of commission for a while. He’s filling in to make sure no one misses out on the great selection! You’ll then ask him for help picking out fireworks for your event, which he’ll gladly agree to do.

To shop for fireworks, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. The five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Together, you and Bilton select a suitable firework for the event. However, your attention is quickly drawn when he mentions something intriguing — an experimental firework known as the Flaming Phoenix!

It’s a special, magical firework that can be used multiple times. After detonation, it magically reforms into a smaller version of itself, much like a real phoenix. The idea immediately captures your imagination, and you’ll decide it would be the perfect grand finale for your event — something truly fitting to honour Fawkes.

Bilton will agree and head off to retrieve it. But after a short while, he returns looking shaken. He informs you that the shop has just been robbed — and worse, the Flaming Phoenix prototype was stolen.

This line will differ based on your previous choice.

Bilton will tell you that if you can find and retrieve the Flaming Phoenix prototype, you can have the rest of the fireworks for free. Before you can respond, Filch will cut in, clearly annoyed. He’ll remind you sternly that you’re not here to solve a mystery — you’re here to buy fireworks, nothing more.

But you’re determined not to walk away.

Seeing your resolve, Filch narrows his eyes and will say that he doesn’t understand why it matters so much to you. After all, the thief has no connection to Hogwarts. He doesn’t see why you’re so set on finding the stolen firework.

There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

In any case, Filch will eventually relent and tell you to do whatever you want — just don’t expect him to help. You’ll respond with a smirk, saying it wouldn’t be the first time you’ve handled things on your own, so you’re not worried.

You will decide your best bet is to head over to the Leaky Cauldron to see if you can dig up any information about the thief. Filch, clearly uninterested in the mystery, will take the opportunity to grab a bite to eat. Still, he’ll warn you to find the thief quickly — he’s eager to return to Hogwarts as soon as possible.
