A Day In Diagon Alley Part 2

VIDEO ADVERTISEMENT

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 2 of our Walkthrough for A Day In Diagon Alley Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous part, Professor McGonagall called upon you to assist three new students in preparing for their first year at Hogwarts. You were tasked with guiding them through Diagon Alley to purchase their school supplies and ensuring they reached Platform 9 3/4 in time to board the Hogwarts Express.

Upon arriving at Hogsmeade Station, you met Ben, who was pleased to see you and suggested reviewing the dossiers on your new charges to better understand them. After a brief discussion about the students’ needs, Ben inquired about each student’s background, revealing that one was completely new to magic, another had a mother in St. Mungo’s due to a venomous bite, and the third had lost their parents in the Wizarding War.

As you began introducing yourself to the students, Rhys, Juniper, and Virgil, you encountered some tension. Rhys expressed curiosity about your welcome speech and mentioned their pet Puffskein, Floofy. Juniper had no school supplies yet and was anxious about the challenges ahead. Virgil only needed books and robes but was more reserved.

The situation became more complex when Rhys noticed Floofy was missing. This interruption shifted the focus away from discussing Virgil’s tragic past and highlighted Rhys’s distress over the lost pet. The next steps involve finding Floofy and continuing with the planned shopping trip. Stay tuned to see how these events unfold and how the relationships between the characters develop.

You will thank Hagrid, and he will ask to speak with you privately. He will advise you to be more careful not to lose the children while shopping in Diagon Alley, emphasizing that they are relying on you. He will then ask if you are sure you can handle the responsibility. There are two different options to choose from. Following that, you will thank Hagrid once more and decide it’s time to start purchasing spellbooks.

screenshot (401)

Go to the Flourish and Blotts to purchase spellbooks. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll ask Virgil if he’s ready to get his spellbooks for his first year at Hogwarts.

screenshot (402)

He’ll add that there are a lot of new titles he wants to look at, not just the ones listed in his Hogwarts acceptance letter.

To purchase spellbooks, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

screenshot (406)

You’ll comment that you’ve found all the spellbooks you needed in record time. However, Virgil will be surprised because he’s heard that Bathilda Bagshot will be at Flourish and Blotts for a book signing today. He’ll add that Madam Bagshot is one of the finest authors of our time, and then he’ll ask if you know what book she wrote. The correct answer is “A History of Magic”.

screenshot (407)

You’ll tell him that you didn’t know he was such a fan of magical history. He’ll add that it’s his hobby and that reading magical history helped him pass the time when he went to live with his uncle. He’ll even mention that he has a copy of A History of Magic that’s been in his family for ages.

screenshot (408)

You’ll mention that you once met Madam Bagshot in Godric’s Hollow while helping your friend Merula, and you’ll add that Merula and him are quite similar in some ways.

However, Virgil will feel sad because Madam Bagshot won’t arrive until later, and he won’t have the chance to meet her and say hello. He will ask you if you think there’s a chance to meet her before you leave Diagon Alley. There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

screenshot (409)

In any case, you’ll say that you wish you could spend more time waiting for Madam Bagshot, but you’ve got to get to your next stop.

screenshot (410)

Proceed to the Ollivanders when you are ready. When you arrive, Ollivanders will warmly welcome you and introduce Mr. Ollivander to your charges.

screenshot (411)
screenshot (412)

Mr. Ollivander will then hand her a wand to try out.

screenshot (413)

However, the wand will not respond to her, and Mr. Ollivander’s vase will break. She will say she didn’t mean to do it and ask if it was a good or bad sign. There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

screenshot (414)

She will apologize to Mr. Ollivander for the damage she caused, and he will reassure her that it’s not a problem, mentioning that he’s used to such occurrences. He will add that the wand chooses the wizard, and it sometimes takes a few tries to find the right one.

screenshot (418)

Once you finish, you’ll comment that you’ve sorted through the inventory and picked out three wands for her to try. Mr. Ollivander will thank you for your assistance, adding that hopefully one of your selections will recognize Miss Hunt’s kind heart and potential.

screenshot (419)

Mr. Ollivander will then ask you, based on what you’ve learned so far, which wand Miss Hunt should try next. The correct answer is ‘Willow, unicorn hair, flexible’

screenshot (420)

Luckily, that wand will turn out to be a perfect match for Juniper.

screenshot (421)

You’ll congratulate her, and she will express her surprise at finding the perfect wand.

screenshot (422)

You’ll tell her that you know she has been a bit overwhelmed since receiving her Hogwarts acceptance letter, but that the magical world has a lot to offer. After thanking Mr. Ollivander, you’ll notice that Rhys and Virgil are missing.

screenshot (423)
screenshot (424)

Proceed to the King’s Cross Station when you are ready. When you arrive at the station, you’ll be relieved to spot Rhys, but you won’t see Virgil. You’ll ask Rhys what happened to him.

screenshot (425)

Rhys will explain that while you were helping Juniper find her wand, Virgil looked out the window and suddenly ran off. Rhys tries to follow him but can’t catch up. She also will mention that Virgil insulted her Puffskein and criticized her for being strange about magical creatures.

To comfort your charge, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

screenshot (429)

Bonus progress actions are tied to Rhys and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

screenshot (430)

You’ll tell her that there’s nothing strange about loving magical creatures and that you have many friends who share a deep passion for the subject, especially Hagrid. Rhys will then ask if you love magical creatures too. There are two different options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

screenshot (431)

Following that, she’ll thank you for the conversation and say that she feels better now. You’ll decide to search for Virgil, but just as you mention his name, he will appear.

screenshot (432)
screenshot (433)

He will say that you all were taking forever to get a wand, so he thought he’d pop out and try to meet Bathilda Bagshot. This line will differ based on your previous choice.

screenshot (434)

You’ll tell him that he shouldn’t have left the group and that everyone was worried. He’ll say he didn’t want to cause any concern and that it won’t happen again. You’ll then tell him to apologize to Rhys.

However, he’ll respond that he didn’t ask her to come after him, so he doesn’t see why he needs to apologize. There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

screenshot (438)

In any case, he’ll apologize to Rhys, and she’ll accept the apology. You’ll then suggest returning to Diagon Alley to finish up the remaining tasks.
