A Letter from Hogwarts Part 3
Introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to Part 3 of our Walkthrough for A Letter from Hogwarts Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous part, you were chatting with friends about their first magic spells, while you were collecting lists of school supplies for the next year.
This information helped you to get some clues about your first experience. You feel like you were very young, a strong emotion caused your spell, and someone you hold dear was present when that happened. If you can find an item that can remind you of that time, that will help you remember everything.
Go to the Main Hall when you are ready.
[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 7 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]

You will start your meal in the Great Hall. You will be worried about how to unlock your first magical memory before the Hogwarts acceptance letters go out. Suddenly, “the most powerful witch at Hogwarts” will sit with you because she noticed that you are very worried.
She will ask you what troubles you. There are three ways to reply, although this choice won’t have any significant impact on the rest of the story. Feel free to choose the option you like.
You will explain how you desperately want to remember your first time using magic.
Merula will mention that her first magic left an impression on everyone how impressive it was. You will ask her to tell you her story, but she will ask you why should she. If you date Merula, you will get additional lines of dialogue here.
You will try to convince her to tell you her story. To do that, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.
Sadly, there are no bonus progress actions here, so you won’t be able to save energy during this task.
You will succeed in convincing her to share her story. She will mention that she used magic for the first time in her early childhood. You will be surprised to hear that she set fire to the living room.
She will remember that she was extremely angry about something and then the flames appeared everywhere around her. Her parents quickly extinguished the flame and the living room rug was destroyed.
Her parents were angry at her but she knew that they were also very impressed by her abilities. She will ask you if you find her story impressive or not. If you like Merula it is recommended to choose the first option.
She will comment that to this day when she smells something burning, she thinks of her first spell.
She will be confident that this is a good clue for you to unlock your memory. She’ll leave because Professor McGonagall will have another task for you. You will thank her and you will decide to help Hagrid with owls.
Go to the Training Grounds when you are ready to continue the story. Once you arrive, you will find there Hagrid and Barnaby with a bunch of owls. Barnaby will be excited to see owls ready for the mission.
These owls will soon be off delivering Hogwarts acceptance letters to children all over Britain and Ireland. Hagrid will explain that before that, you need to make sure they are healthy and ready for the trip. You will ask him how you can do that.
Barnaby heard from Penny that you are asking friends about their first magical experience, but he’ll be sad that you haven’t asked him yet.
Barnaby will shyly ask you if you wouldn’t forget about him. If you like Barnaby, it is recommended to choose the first option.
He will say that he has an idea to help you with your memory, but for the idea to work, he’ll need to tell you his story. He will tell you more about it while you are working with owls.
To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.
There is one bonus progress action tied to Barnaby. Prioritize this action to save a bit of energy.
You’ve learned a very unusual first spell this time. Barnaby magically summoned a jar of biscuits.
He’ll think that his parents wouldn’t be impressed by his ability if they found out, because it was not a very powerful or violent display of magic. He never told them and he even forgot it until one day when he was eating Ginger Newts in the courtyard.
His conclusion will be that sometimes when you are trying to remember something it’s better to think of something else entirely.
His idea is that you should focus on something else instead of thinking really hard about your memory. He will ask you if his idea is helpful. If you like Barnaby, it is recommended to pick the first option.
Shortly after, Hagrid will come and he’ll inform you that all the owls have passed the inspection and he will be grateful for your help. He will tell you that you will soon go to Diagon Alley with him, but first, you should go to Madam Pince at the Library to help her with letters.
Go to the Library when you are ready to continue. You will see a lot of your friends there. You can hear out what’s on their mind if you tap the speech bubbles above their heads. Slide the screen left and right to see all the available options.
Madam Pince will thank you for coming. She will welcome you to the Hogwarts acceptance letter preparation assembly line.
She’ll explain that every year, the Deputy Headmistress composes a letter for every child who will be invited to Hogwarts. The task of the assembly line is to duplicate her message accurately and address it to every eligible recipient. But that’s not all.
Because there are quite a few letters to write, Madam Pince developed a system for writing, addressing, and stamping letters as efficiently as possible.
She will ask you what’s your impression of her system. This choice won’t have a significant impact on the story later, but you will make Madam Pince happy if you choose the second option.
Madam Pince will inform you that you have a special role to play in this process because you are a lead volunteer. Your task is to inspect all Hogwarts acceptance letters.
You will be shocked by the responsibility of this task. Madam Pince won’t help you in calming you down.
You will accept your task and you’ll promise to be careful. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Start this task only when your energy bar is full.
Bonus progress actions are tied to your character and the envelope in your character’s hand. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.
You will finally finish your job.
This line of dialogue may differ based on your progress in the main story.
You will wonder what kind of adventures they will have. You will start recalling your own, like dealing with the Cursed Vaults and exploring Jacob’s room. Then suddenly, the idea will come to your mind.
Jacob’s secret room will be ideal to find some clues about your first magical moment. It seems that Barnaby’s advice works because you did get an important idea while relaxing your mind. The following line will differ based on whether you believed in his idea or not.
Shortly after, Madam Pince will arrive and she will be pleased with your work. She will ask you if the work was too tedious for you. This choice won’t have a significant impact on the story, so feel free to choose the option you like.
She will inform you that the Hogwarts acceptance process is nearly complete. All that is left for you is to accompany Hagrid to Diagon Alley and to check local shops there if they have all the necessary materials in stock.
Before you go to Diagon Alley, you have to check Jacob’s room. You need to search for it fast and you know the ideal person who can help you with that.
Go to the Clocktower Courtyard to meet Tulip. Once there, you will notice there’s a huge crowd of students. If you are curious about what students have to say, tap on the speech bubbles. You will spot Tulip in the crowd.
You will wonder what’s going on in the courtyard. You will see that Bill is giving a speech. You will approach him and he’ll be glad to see you. The next line of dialogue will differ based on your progress in the main story.
He’ll explain that he came from Gringotts to speak with the professors about an especially pernicious cursed treasure. But he also brought something with him, something that may be of interest to you.
Those artifacts look like the Quill of Acceptance and the Book of Admittance. Bill will explain that these are highly detailed replicas of those artifacts. You will be interested to learn where did he get them. He will explain to you but first, you should check them out.
He’ll point out that you have one of Hogwarts’ foremost history experts to share fascinating details. Who is this expert will depend based on your progress in the main story.
You need to earn five stars within three hours to get a closer look at replicas. All five stars are required to pass.
Bonus progress actions are tied to Bill, the replica of the Book behind him, the replica of the Quill, and the Inkwell. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.
You will thank Bill for showing these replicas. He will tell you that these replicas were gifts from Professor McGonagall to him when he was a lead volunteer. If you do all your duties, you might get a pair of these replicas well.
Tulip will approach you. If you exposed her secrets earlier, she will be very angry at you, but luckily, she will forgive you this time. She will mention that she has been thinking about the Book and the Quill and something doesn’t feel right to her. She will share with you her concerns.
She will then ask you about your opinion. This choice won’t have a significant impact on the overall story, so feel free to choose the option you like.
Bill will explain that non-magical children can retain some of their parents’ magic, enough to fool the Quill of Acceptance, but that residual magic eventually fades. That’s why the Book requires a child to demonstrate magical abilities. This will reassure Tulip.
After the conversation about the Book and the Quill, you will explain to Tulip why you want her help to search Jacob’s room.
Tulip will gladly accept to help you.
This will mark the end of Part 3 of A Letter from Hogwarts adventure. Hit the Collect button to claim your reward. You will receive 3 Gems.
Will you find something interesting in Jacob’s room that will unlock your memory? What could it be? How the next step of preparation of Hogwarts acceptance letters in Diagon Alley will look like? Find out in the next part of this adventure.
Thank you for reading.
