A Mysterious Hallowe’en Party Part 3

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 3 of our Walkthrough for A Mysterious Hallowe’en Party Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous part, you formed teams and searched the places Penny usually goes to, but couldn’t find any trace of her. However, you did find an important clue which is a note addressed to Penny. You then asked your friends for samples of their handwriting to see if any of them wrote the note. You’ll hope that the key to Penny’s disappearance is in the evidence you gathered.

Proceed to the Research Lab when you are ready. You will begin to examine your evidence, and then Olivia will approach you.

You will be visibly surprised to see Olivia and you’ll ask her why she’s here. She’ll reply by saying she could ask you the same thing and mention that she expected you to be out on a spooky Halloween adventure instead of looking like an old-time detective with those papers.

Then she’ll ask you what you actually do in the Research Lab. There are three options to choose from. If you like Olivia, it is recommended to pick the first option. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Afterward, she’ll suggest to help you out. This line will differ based on your previous choice.

She will suggest that you can pretend to be detectives from the movies.

You’ll agree with her idea and suggest that you both should look at the handwriting samples together. You’ll stress how important it is to see if they match. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start this task with a full energy bar.

There is only one bonus progress action tied to Olivia. Prioritize this action to save some energy.

Once you’re done examining the handwriting, you’ll realize that none of them resembles the handwriting used in the note. These lines will differ based on your previous choice.

Then, you’ll tell Olivia the truth about what happened. You’ll say that during the Halloween party, the lights suddenly went out, and when they came back on, Penny was gone. Right now, you’re looking for any clues to prove who the culprit is or where she’s gone.

She will remark that it’s a smart move.

You’ll begin to consider the possibility that the note might not be connected to Penny’s disappearance, but then you’ll question why it mentions her vanishing. Olivia will observe that there are many unanswered questions on your part.

You’ll thank her for her help and explain that you think it will be useful to understand everything better.

You’ll explain that your next step is to have a discussion with someone who knows about the investigation before deciding what to do next.

Go to the flat to continue the story. When you arrive, you will thank them for helping you.

You’ll inform him that you’re happy he’s here to assist in sorting things out. If you and Talbot are partners, you’ll get extra lines of dialogue.

Not long after, you’ll propose beginning because you have a bunch of evidence to organize and not much time. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start this task with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Talbott and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

After that, you’ll say that, based on the order of events, you can exclude Talbott, Badea, and Jae as suspects because they have no reason to commit the crime. So, the only ones left as possible culprits are you, Merula, and Victor.

You’ll ask him for his thoughts, and he’ll point out that there are many things you don’t know yet. He’ll also say that he believes Merula has a good reason to be involved and ask if you have any ideas about what that reason could be. There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

Afterward, Talbot will say that the board made him remember something. He’ll point out that your timeline is not complete for what happened before Penny went missing. You’ll ask him if he remembers anything, and he’ll mention that it happened before you arrived, stating that Merula was having an argument with Corey, and Penny was trying to calm them down.

You’ll make the assumption that Merula overheard this and began arguing with Corey. Talbott will agree, saying she did and accused Corey of inviting her out of pity. He’ll also say that Victor’s story doesn’t make sense. He’ll point out that Victor’s errand shouldn’t have made him as late as he was, especially because he can apparate.

Talbott will say that Victor really doesn’t like being in Honeydukes and wouldn’t want to stay there longer than necessary. You’ll reply that it doesn’t necessarily mean he wasn’t late because he was buying those lollipops.

You’ll mention that Victor told you they melted in his pocket, and Talbott will persuade you that lollipops cannot melt in someone’s pocket.

Later on, you’ll suggest completing the evidence board. Shortly after, you’ll become aware that someone is standing near the door, eavesdropping on your conversation.

Seeing you, the dark figure started to run away.

You’ll tell Corey to stay in your flat and then you’ll go after the mysterious person. Go to the Flat Neighborhood to continue the story. When you arrive you will see Merula and approach her.

She will respond by saying that she wasn’t lurking around like a mysterious character in a detective movie. She’ll also mention that she came to see how the investigation was going, but she’ll quickly realize that you’re doubtful, and she’ll ask you why is that. There are two options to choose from. If you like Merula, it is recommended to pick the first option.

A little later, you will ask her if she saw a dark figure passing this way, and she will tell you that she only saw you. This line will differ based on your neighborhood.

Then, you’ll inform her that you’d like to ask her some questions while she’s here, and she’ll tease you about taking the detective role too seriously. You’ll clarify that you just want to find Penny. To do that, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start this task with a full energy bar.

Following your questioning of Merula, you’ll discover that the reason she moved in the dark was because she accidentally dropped her wand. She’ll explain that she was a little surprised when Corey screamed.

You’ll remark that this seems like a valuable clue, and Talbott will agree. Then, you’ll ask Merula why she had her wand out, and she’ll explain that it was dark, so she wanted to cast Lumos to see. When you ask her why she didn’t tell you earlier, she’ll say she didn’t want Corey and the others to know she got scared and dropped her wand.

Then you’ll suggest that she help you finish the evidence board, especially now that you have more things to add.

Proceed to the Flat when you are ready. Right after you come in, you’ll tell Corey and Merula not to argue. You’ll remind them that you’re here to complete the evidence board and, more importantly, to find Penny. But your conversation will be interrupted because someone will knock heavily on your door.

You will be all curious and ready to see who it is, raising your wands.

You’ll be extremely surprised when you see the true identity of the person at the door.

Penny will wonder why everyone has their wands raised. You’ll still be taken aback by her sudden appearance, and Penny will express that it feels like it’s been a long time since you last met. You can reply in three ways. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Then, she’ll say she’s glad she got here in time for the big reveal. You’ll be really confused and ask her what message she’s talking about.

She will tell you that she doesn’t know what it said, but that she just followed the directions.

You will suggest to her to tell you everything from the beginning what happened. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start this task with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Merula and Penny. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

After you hear Penny’s side of the story, you will find out that she received a message from an owl, which said that Penny is a murder victim and that she should apparate somewhere else unexpectedly when the lights went out. You’ll ask Penny if she tried to burn the message, and she’ll say yes, explaining that the message told her to do it.

Penny will be puzzled, and you’ll request to see the other message. Upon a thorough examination of the note Penny placed on the board, you’ll comment that the handwriting matches the burnt message, and you’ll further note that the handwriting doesn’t belong to Corey.

Penny will feel quite upset about it, but you’ll reassure her that she shouldn’t blame herself because she was tricked.
