Chapter 10 – Case Closed

VIDEO ADVERTISEMENT

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Ten of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume Two of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In Chapter 9, you took significant strides in your investigation, beginning with a thorough report to Flump on the cursed New York fountain. Through this conversation, you discovered that Flump had once tried to resolve a similar curse by disguising wizarding coins as ordinary ones instead of breaking the spell, which led you to consider the complex implications of leaving curses unresolved.

You later met Merula and found her embroiled in a heated exchange with Barnaby’s grandmother’s portrait. Her purpose there? Helping Barnaby deal with his family legacy by facing his grandmother’s challenging portrait head-on. This encounter also offered a chance to evaluate Merula’s relationship with Ruby and left you questioning her real motives.

The final part of Chapter 9 leads you to Hogsmeade to confront Jacob about his strange behavior and recent obsession with his curse, bringing to light the possibility that someone close to your family may be involved. His theory suggested connections between the curse-breaking events and your father, as well as possible involvement with the mysterious amulet. Now, Chapter 10 continues with heightened stakes, new alliances, and challenging decisions that may affect not only your path but also the delicate balance between the wizarding and Muggle worlds.

Video guides are available on our YouTube channel. Use the button below.

Proceed to the Quidditch Stands when you are ready to watch a Quidditch Match. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. There, you will meet Skye and Murphy. Murphy will express how glad he is to see you and mention that he was expecting your arrival. He’ll also share how excited he is to see Harry Potter in action.

This line will vary depending on which house you were in at Hogwarts.

However, Skye will point out to Murphy that if he keeps talking, he might miss the match. Murphy will respond confidently, saying he can talk and watch the match at the same time, adding that he calculated this method as one of many potential outcomes where he can fully enjoy the match.

    screenshot (1753)

To get Murphy’s analytical advice, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

    screenshot (1754)

Bonus progress actions are tied to the student next to you and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

    screenshot (1755)

You’ll mention that you’re curious about the odds of a rule-breaker continuing to break rules depending on whether they’ve been punished or not. He’ll reply that it sort of depends on the person, adding that someone might not inherently be inclined to do “bad” things, but they might give it a shot just once to see.

    screenshot (1756)
    screenshot (1757)

At that moment, Hagrid will notice that Harry Potter is being chased by a rogue Bludger and Murphy will also point out that the Bludger crashes right through the Slytherin Quidditch tower.

    screenshot (1758)
    screenshot (1759)

You will get an additional line of dialogue if you have completed Meet The Malfoys Adventure.

    screenshot (1760)

Following that, Murphy will praise an excellent flying maneuver from Harry and comment that amidst the chaos, Harry Potter has spotted the Golden Snitch. He’ll add that right now, Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy are neck and neck, chasing after the Snitch. Shortly after, Skye will ask for your opinion on the match.

There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

    screenshot (1761)

However, Draco will lose control and fall off his broom.

    screenshot (1764)
    screenshot (1765)

Meanwhile, Harry will continue chasing the Snitch, but the Bludger will hit him in the arm, injuring him.

    screenshot (1766)

But he will be determined and successfully catch the Snitch. However, as soon as he catches it, he will also fall off his broom, and the Bludger will continue chasing him, putting him in danger.

    screenshot (1767)
    screenshot (1768)
    screenshot (1769)

Following that, Murphy will comment that a Gryffindor girl has rushed onto the field and cast Finite Incantatem to stop the Bludger. The professors will also rush out, looking concerned, and Gilderoy Lockhart will approach Harry to help with his injured arm.

    screenshot (1770)

You will comment that you think Lockhart has vanished all the bones in Harry’s arm. However, Murphy will ask you to explain it to him in more detail. There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

    screenshot (1771)

Following that, you’ll thank Skye for inviting you to the match and decide to return to work. You’ll need to wait three hours before you can continue. Since this chapter is not time-limited, it is recommended to wait until this timer runs out.

    screenshot (1772)

Head to Washington Square Park once the waiting time is over to deal with the fountain. Now it’s time to decide how to deal with this fountain—will you leave it as it is, or will you break the curse once and for all?

    screenshot (1773)

To weigh the pros and cons, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

    screenshot (1774)

The bonus progress actions are tied to your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

    screenshot (1775)

Now the decision is up to you. If you break the curse, witches, and wizards will stop having their wishes twisted, and no one will get hurt. However, a pile of wizarding money in the fountain could definitely raise Muggle’s suspicion. But you’ll realize that although Flump did say he used a spell, any wizarding coins will transfigure into Muggle coins. On the other hand, if you don’t break the curse, the fountain will punish anyone who tosses wizard coins into it.

    screenshot (1776)
    screenshot (1777)

Choose whether you will break the curse or leave it. The choice does not impact the story, so pick whichever you prefer.

    screenshot (1778)

Shortly after, Ben will appear and add that he’s glad you’re here and that he needs to talk to you. He’ll suggest going somewhere private so you can have a proper conversation.

Proceed to the MACUSA when you are ready to talk with Ben. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll ask him what he wants to talk about, and he’ll reply that he wants to update you on what’s happened since you last spoke.

    screenshot (1779)

To get’s Ben update, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

    screenshot (1780)

The bonus progress actions are tied to Ben. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

    screenshot (1781)

These lines will differ based on your previous choice.

    screenshot (1782)
    screenshot (1783)
    screenshot (1784)

Following that, he’ll ask you what you think of New York. There are two different options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

    screenshot (1785)

Shortly after, you’ll tell him that you’re returning to London and that you don’t know when you’ll be back. You’ll mention that it was really nice visiting him occasionally. He’ll say he had a feeling you’d say that, then add that he hasn’t heard from his friends at Hogwarts in a long time and that the letters are really slow.

    screenshot (1786)
    screenshot (1787)

After a brief conversation about your brother, you’ll say goodbye and invite him to visit London whenever he has the time.

    screenshot (1788)

Go to the Alleyway to continue the story. There, Merula will be waiting for you and will comment that it’s about time you showed up for work. She’ll then ask what you have to say for yourself. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

    screenshot (1789)

She’ll say that it’s the first time she’s seen you at work, and you’ll reply that it’s not your fault that you and she don’t work at the same time, and that you’ve been pretty busy since you’re a supervisor. She will then add that she heard from Ismelda that you recently visited Ben, but you’ll skillfully avoid answering.

    screenshot (1790)

You’ll say that you’ve talked enough about yourself and try to shift the conversation, asking if she knows anything about Ruby.

    screenshot (1791)
    screenshot (1792)

To get Merula’s perspective, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

    screenshot (1820)

Bonus progress actions are tied to Merula and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

    screenshot (1793)

Merula will explain that she and Ruby aren’t friends, they just sometimes go to lunch, sometimes outside of work, and talk about whatever. She’ll add that one time, they even wandered around Knockturn Alley together, and Ruby showed her her favorite shop.

    screenshot (1794)
    screenshot (1795)

She’ll say that she was thinking about inviting Ruby over to her place, and you’ll tell her that she can’t invite Ruby to Barnaby’s because it’s not his house. However, she’ll respond that she can, since she’s the one who keeps his grandmother at bay, adding that everyone in the house respects that, and they definitely wouldn’t mind if she invited Ruby.

    screenshot (1796)
    screenshot (1797)

You’ll tell her that it’s not important and that you both need to head to your boss to report on her job performance.

    screenshot (1798)
    screenshot (1799)

You’ll need to wait four hours before you can continue. Since this chapter is not time-limited, it is recommended to wait until this timer runs out.

    screenshot (1800)

Head to ROCC Division once the waiting time is over to update Flump. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, Flump will comment that he was expecting you much earlier. You’ll apologize and add that you had to pretend to actually be working in Magical Maintenance.

    screenshot (1801)

He’ll say that he doesn’t care about that and will insist that you listen to him because he won’t repeat himself. To get Flump’s explanation, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

    screenshot (1802)

The bonus progress actions are tied to your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

    screenshot (1803)

He’ll then say that the Washington Square Park Fountain Curse was your case. Whatever you decide, it is your decision. He’ll ask if you think you’ll regret your choice. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

    screenshot (1804)

He’ll then ask about Merula and Ruby, and you’ll explain that Merula is actually the reason you’re here. You’ll mention that while she won’t admit it, she and Ruby have become friends. They hang out together outside of work and have apparently talked about their families. You’ll add that Merula didn’t sound suspicious of Ruby; she sounded more suspicious of you, actually.

Flump will respond, saying that while it’s not ideal for you to be under scrutiny, it’s better than Ruby. He’ll then ask for your opinion on the possibility of Merula uncovering Ruby’s identity. There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

    screenshot (1805)

Flump will warn you to keep an eye on them and be cautious. You’ll then ask him what the plan is regarding Ruby’s plan to go after Eris.

    screenshot (1806)
    screenshot (1807)

At that moment, the left gargoyle will call you to pass through the door, as it’s time for the next case.

    screenshot (1808)
    screenshot (1809)

Now that you have completed the story, you can start the mandatory and optional chapter tasks. You need to complete one mandatory chapter task and two optional chapter tasks to unlock the next chapter. When you complete three tasks, the fourth one that is left will disappear.

Go to the ROCC Divison to start the mandatory chapter task. You will meet up with Flump you need to help Ruby with her investigation.

    screenshot (1810)

You’ll need to complete several objectives to finish this mandatory chapter task. Feel free to do them in any order you prefer.

While doing these objectives, it is recommended to select the duration that matches their star requirements.
