Chapter 11 – Good Grief

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Eleven of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume One of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous chapter, you continued your solo efforts on the case while Ruby attended an art gallery charity auction. Flump then instructed you to investigate the Parkin Quidditch forgery, taking your quill theory into account. Following this, you met with Skyle, seizing the opportunity to gather additional information for your case. Concurrently, a Quidditch match unfolded, featuring the young and renowned wizard Harry Potter, who, despite challenges, still managed to catch the golden snitch.

Shortly after, your colleague Olivia summoned you back to work urgently due to an incident. Upon arrival, Flump gathered everyone and delivered the devastating news that Ruby had tragically lost her life while heroically saving others from the Fiendfyre that destroyed the entire gallery. Ruby showed what kind of hero she is with this act.

Proceed to the Workspace at the ROCC Division when you are ready. When you arrive, you will meet Olivia, who is visibly upset.

Olivia will express disbelief at how things ended and mention that Ruby had such a promising life.

You’ll remark that it seemed like a routine undercover security job at an art auction, and Olivia will respond that it’s surprising because those are usually uneventful. She’ll mention that more details will likely emerge during the investigation into the fire that claimed Ruby’s life.

Afterward, she’ll inquire about your feelings regarding Ruby’s death. There are two different options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

Shortly after that, Olivia will suggest that you share some fond memories you had with Ruby in her honor. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

The bonus progress actions are tied to your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

You will agree that Ruby certainly made an impression during her brief time at the ROCC. This line will differ based on your previous choice in Chapter 10.

She’ll say that between figuring out a new job, surviving the Graphorn attack, and now losing Ruby, you’re dealing with a lot. She will then ask you if you feel guilty about what happened to Ruby. There are two options to choose from. If you like Ruby, it is recommended to pick the first option.

She’ll say it was just bad luck, emphasizing that art auctions usually aren’t risky for security. She’ll remind you that you didn’t decide to send Ruby, it was Flump’s call, and she thinks Flump is feeling responsible.

You’ll ask her what it should remind Flump of.

Following that, she’ll ask you if you can focus on work. There are two options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

This line will differ based on your previous choice.

Sadly, you will need to wait three hours until you can continue. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge.

Go to the Break Room to continue the story. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say.
Callum will say he’s surprised you came to work despite losing your partner. This line will differ based on your previous choice.

You’ll notice that Flump is busy hitting the broken candy machine. Calum will comment that you might have to wait until he’s done with the machine, and you’ll express your hope that it won’t be too long since you have to get back to work.

He’ll mention that it’s challenging to stay composed, especially after such a tragic event, and then he’ll suggest explaining his methods for staying calm. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

Unfortunately, there are no bonus progress actions. When you finish, you’ll understand that dealing with tragedy is not the same for everyone and that each person handles grief in their own way. Callum will then say that he tries to appreciate every moment life has to offer, and he’ll add that he also dives headlong into work.

He’ll agree that it remains challenging and advise you to view things objectively.

Callum will mention that ROCC agents encounter dangers every single day, and you’ll inquire if he believes what occurred to Ruby was unavoidable. He’ll share that he avoids forming conclusions until he thoroughly investigates the case.

Before you can complete your sentence, Flump will come over and interrupt you. These lines will differ based on your previous choice.

He’ll clarify that he needs rational and clear-eyed agents on this case, and given your close connection to Ruby, he cannot assign you to it.

Then Callum will ask you if you will listen to Flump. There are two options to choose from. This choice is important because it will affect task 3. If you choose the first option, you will go visit your brother in St. Mungo to see how his potion is progressing; otherwise, you’ll immediately start investigating Ruby’s accident by talking to Chiara. In both cases, you will talk to Chiara, but the order of events will differ, as will some of the dialogue. Pick the option you like.

This line will differ based on your previous choice.

(Task 3 will be slightly different based on your previous choice.)

Proceed to the Alchemy Room at St. Mungo’s when you are ready. When you arrive, you will thank Chiara for meeting you.

After that, you’ll simply ask Chiara how she’s feeling about everything since she knew Ruby before you did.

You’ll then inquire if Chiara can share more details about Ruby’s time at St. Mungo’s and if she had any family or connections. Additionally, you’ll express regret for not having had the chance to know Ruby better. Following that, Chiara will agree to provide the information. To learn more about Ruby, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. Three stars are required to pass.

The bonus progress actions are tied to your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

After you finish, Chiara will reveal that Ruby had a girlfriend. She’ll mention that Ruby spoke about her on a few occasions and believes that Ruby was deeply in love with her.

You’ll think that perhaps Ruby didn’t mention her girlfriend for a reason. Wondering what else you don’t know about Ruby, you’ll express a desire to find her girlfriend and ask Chiara if she knows the girlfriend’s name.

The following lines will differ based on your previous choice.

He’ll mention that he’s working on a method to counter Verucca’s version of the Conjunctivitis Curse and express frustration, stating that he’s been waiting for you all morning. Chiara will feel uncomfortable and leave.

You’ll thank her before she leaves. Following that, you’ll apologize to Jacob and tell him that you have a lot on your mind. Jacob will assure you that he should be the one to apologize.

You’ll ask how he found out about it, and he’ll mention that Olivia informed him. This piques your curiosity, and you give him a puzzled look.

You’ll inform him that Madam Strout mentioned seeing him with a young woman, and you’ll inquire if Olivia is bringing him here too. This seems to upset him, and he quickly shifts the conversation by asking about your feelings. This line will differ based on your previous choice.

He’ll mention that processing emotions takes time and suggests focusing on the potion to take your mind off things. When you ask why he’s in a rush, he’ll explain that he’s eager to make progress on breaking Verucca’s variation of the Conjunctivitis Curse.

He will feel very uncomfortable and tell you that it is not about that. There are two options to choose from. If you like Jacob it is recommended to pick the second option.

You’ll propose a safer approach by consulting a potion book instead of experimenting with risky potions. Realizing that Jae might know of such a book, you’ll mention that you plan to contact him and arrange a meeting.

Jacob will suggest that you take some time to clear your head.

Sadly, you will need to wait four hours until you can continue. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge.

Head to the flat once the waiting time is over. When you arrive, you’ll notice that your friends are waiting for you, and among them is Liz, whom you haven’t seen in a long time.

She’ll mention that Barnaby and Badeea told her you’re going through a tough time, and she felt the need to drop everything and visit you. You’ll thank her and mention that you’d appreciate taking your mind off things for a bit.

To catch up with Liz, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Badeea, Liz, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

After you finish, Liz will share that she finally landed her dream job as a Magizoologist and she’ll mention being so busy that she couldn’t find an apartment. You’ll offer to help her find a place to stay. This line will differ based on the place where you live.

Liz’s humor will bring a smile to your face, and Barnaby expresses his hope that their company has provided some distraction for you.

Liz will tell Barnaby that he didn’t ruin anything and that it’s not an easy thing to forget. Following that, you’ll thank everyone and wish Liz a warm welcome. You’ll add that you are lucky to have such good friends who support you and never give up on you.

Now that you have completed the story, you can start the mandatory and optional chapter tasks. You need to complete one mandatory chapter task and two optional chapter tasks to unlock the next chapter. When you complete three tasks, the fourth one that is left will disappear.

Go to the Three Broomstick to start the mandatory chapter task. You’ll meet up with Murphy
When you arrive, Murphy will greet you and say that he has something he wants to discuss with you. You will find out that Murphy missed the legendary Harry Potter Quidditch match and he wants to know all the details about it.

You’ll need to complete several objectives to finish this mandatory chapter task. Feel free to do them in any order you prefer.

While doing these objectives, it is recommended to select the duration that matches their star requirements.

Prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever they are available.

Try your best to complete all the mini-tasks to earn additional attribute points.

Once you complete all of the tasks, hit the Collect button and return to the Three Broomsticks.

After you complete all the objectives, you can claim the reward in the ROCC Division section of the Wizarding Life tab.

Choose the optional tasks you like. You can Catch up at home which will give you Hippogriff Club Experience Points, Ghostly friendships at the Godric’s Hollow Graveyard where you can gain Dragon Club Experience Points, and Wrangle books at the Research Lab which will give you Spinx Club Experience Points. Don’t forget to select the duration that matches their star requirements.

Also, prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever they are available.

Try your best to complete all the mini-tasks to earn additional attribute points.

This will conclude Chapter 11 of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume 1. You will receive 400 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
