Chapter 13 – Social Deduction
Introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Threeten of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume One of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous chapter, you had a small disagreement with your boss Flump because you didn’t heed his advice to stay away from the investigation into Ruby’s death. He advised you to leave the investigation to your colleagues and focus on the case you worked on with Ruby as a tribute to her. After accepting that advice, you decided to meet with Skye Parker and her father Ethan to investigate the forgery of signatures on memorabilia. After a few convincing words, Ethan agreed to share all the information with you.
Soon after the conversation with Ethan, you discovered a potential lead related to your case – their prestigious social club. The question arose of how to investigate that club, and Skye suggested talking to Orion Amari. You quickly headed to him, learned that he is a life coach, and during the conversation realized that the best way for further exploration was to become a member of their club.
You agreed to try to become a member by defeating the club owner in magical wizarding chess. To achieve this, you decided to spend the evening practicing at the Leaky Cauldron with the help of Murphy. After successful practice, you thanked Murphy and invited him to join the weekly gathering with your friends from Hogwarts, which he gladly accepted. It was time to meet with your friends, and during the gathering, you introduced Orion and Skye to your Hogwarts friends.
After some casual chatting, you approached Skye and expressed gratitude for suggesting a conversation with Orion. Andre overheard the conversation and asked what it was about regarding the social club, mentioning that it sounded similar to the club Rath received an invitation to join. This gave you the idea that perhaps Rath could provide you with a letter of recommendation since she is a member of the club. You decided to meet with her to discuss this possibility.

Proceed to the Quidditch Pitch when you are ready. When you arrive, you will thank Rath for meeting you.

This line will differ based on which house you were in at Hogwarts.

You’ll get extra lines of dialogue if you haven’t met Rath before. Following that, you’ll tell her that you need her help, and she will accept to help you.

She’ll set a condition, stating that she will assist you only if you can keep up with her. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Rath and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

These lines will differ based on whether you have met Rath before.


Then she’ll ask you what you need help with, and you will tell her that you want to join the social club. At first, she will pretend not to know what you’re talking about.

You’ll add that you know the club members are celebrated public figures and elite socialites, and that the membership is prestigious. Additionally, you’ll mention that you are prepared to defeat the president in wizard’s chess and that you need her help to write a letter of recommendation and facilitate your entry into the club.
She’ll agree that you seem to know more than others, and you will reassure her that you wouldn’t come to her if it wasn’t genuinely important to you. Then she’ll ask you why you want to join the club. There are two different options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

In any case, she will agree to write you that letter, but on the condition that you do something for her. There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

After that, you’ll find out that Rath plays in a fantasy Quidditch league for fun and needs to submit her lineup. She’ll tell you that, since you work in Magical Maintenance, you need to take it to the commissioner.


When you hear that, you will be surprised to learn that Flump plays fantasy Quidditch because he doesn’t seem like the type of person to do anything fun.

You’ll agree with her that it seems like Flump, and you will suggest going right away to deliver the lineup to him.

Go to the Research Lab at the ROCC Division to meet with Flump. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll see that Flump is busy with work.

He’ll acknowledge that it might seem like he takes many things lightly. However, he’ll emphasize that the death of one of his agents is not one of those things. He’ll add that his team will use all the help it can get, prompting you to offer your assistance.

You’ll tell him that, actually, this time, his business is your business, giving him Rath’s fantasy Quidditch lineup.


He’ll be quite embarrassed and will want to know where you got it. To explain yourself, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Flump, Olivia, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

You’ll explain to him that after he assigned you to the Quidditch memorabilia case, you learned about a social club from Ethan Park. You’ll add that this club is composed of elite witches and wizards who have also been victims of fraud.
You’ll mention that you think the social club is connected to Gringott’s cheque forgeries and the Quidditch memorabilia forgeries. Additionally, you’ll reveal that Rath will help you gain entry into the club in exchange for delivering her fantasy Quidditch lineup.

He’ll say that it makes sense in disbelief and ask you to do him a favor by keeping the Quidditch fantasy stuff just for yourself. There are two options to choose from. If you like Flump, it is recommended to pick the first option. Also, if you choose the first option, Flump will reveal one additional piece of information regarding the case of Ruby’s death.

Following that, he’ll say that as for the social club, it seems worth looking into.

You will need to wait three hours until you can continue. Since you will probably be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Proceed to Fitzy Flourpuff’s Enchanted Cakery when the waiting time is over. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you will find yourself at a new, exclusive location where your friend Jae works.

You’ll be very impressed with this place, and Jacob will ask you to describe the place to him. There are two different options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

In any case, you will describe to him how it looks. You will tell him that there is an island in the center where customers devour cakes and watch the Cake Charmers work their magic. Behind the counter, it’s a whirlwind of eggs, flour, and icing.

Jacob will thank you for describing the place to him, and he will be very excited. He’ll add that as soon as you break the curse, he wants to come and see it with his own eyes. Following that, Jae will invite you to come closer and will welcome you warmly.

He’ll mention that it is his workstation where he charms cakes, adding that customers can take a seat right there and watch the magic. You will be curious about how it works. He will say that the cakes themselves aren’t magic and that you should know why. There are three options to choose from. The correct answer is “Food can’t be magic”.

Following that, he will add that with some enchantment, he can make cakes and do all sorts of things. You’ll tell him that then you probably keep him busy, but he will assure you that he has time for you.

You’ll tell him that you and Jacob are looking for a potion book that could help you break Verucca’s Conjunctivis Curse, which is quite complex. You’ll add that even healers haven’t found a solution.
Then you’ll ask him to help you find that book since he’s always been good at tracking things down. He will say that he is aware of a few potion books and suggest that you discuss them to determine which one would work best for you.
To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start this task with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Jacob and Jae. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

When you finish, you’ll come to the realization that the Moste Potente Potions book is your best option. Jae will add that he doesn’t know if you’ll find the exact potion you need, but he will say it’s a good starting point.

You’ll remind your brother that it should be a safely conducted experiment, and you will ask Jae where you could find that book. He’ll say that finding that book isn’t easy, and Flourish and Blotts almost never has it. But you’ll remember that there’s a copy of the book in the Hogwarts Library Restricted Section. Jae will agree with you but quickly remind you that you are now former students and can’t access it.

You’ll thank him for that, but Jacob will interject and say that you need that book immediately. Jae will be surprised by Jacob’s reaction and ask him why he’s in such a hurry. Jacob will say that it’s personal.


Following that, Jae will ask you how you feel about Jacob keeping things from you. There are three options to choose from. If you like Jacob, it is recommended to pick the second option.

He’ll say that perhaps when you find that book, he might be ready to share more with you.

Go to the Hog’s Head Inn to meet with Rath. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, Rath will ask if you’ve delivered her lineup.

She’ll then add that thanks to you, she can beat Flump in fantasy Quidditch, and she will advise you to stay away from him for a while because he’ll probably be in a bad mood. This line will differ based on your previous choice.

She will say that you had a deal for her to write you a letter of recommendation, and she will do so. If you chose to blackmail Flump in the previous choice, you will get an additional dialogue line. Then she’ll say that the decision is up to the president. You will ask her to describe the club president.


Then she’ll ask you if you have any important information she should include in the letter. There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

You’ll thank her and ask what you should do next and she’ll tell you to be careful now because the next piece of information is vital. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Rath, the woman next to your table, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

She’ll then inform you that you will receive an invitation in the form of a riddle that reveals the club’s location and that you need to solve it quickly. You’ll decide to return to your flat and call your friends Talbott and Tulip to help you solve the riddle.
You will need to wait four hours until you can continue. Since you will probably be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Proceed to your Flat when the waiting time is over. Tulip will thank you for inviting them.

Then you’ll tell them that you need their help because you are working on a project that involves solving a riddle quickly. Tulip will respond that you’re lucky to have called your two smartest friends to help you. She’ll then ask why you’re trying to solve a riddle. There are two different options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

Talbott will say that they are glad to hear you’re staying busy after your co-worker’s accident. You will say that it’s part of the reason why you’re so occupied and add that you’re unofficially looking into Ruby’s death.

Talbott will say that it makes sense and add that being in Magical Maintenance affords you access to a lot of places but doesn’t give you a lot of authority. Tulip will add that it sounds like the perfect opportunity to defy authority. At that moment, you’ll receive your riddle invitation.

You will immediately open it and read the riddle.

You’ll suggest analyzing the riddle together to solve it and uncover the location of the social club. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within one hour. All five stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Talbott and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

When you finish the analysis, you’ll conclude that the phrase “Where partners find frills, thrills, and swills” may refer to a romantic couple at a fancy place, and “swills” seems to refer to the act of drinking. Tulip will then ask for your opinion on what kind of drink it might be. There are three different options to choose from. The correct answer is “Tea”.

Following that, you’ll wonder where romantic couples might drink tea in a fancy place. After a short thought, you’ll discover that it is Madam Puddifoot’s Tea Shop.

You’ll want to head there immediately.


Now that you have completed the story, you can start the mandatory and optional chapter tasks. You need to complete one mandatory chapter task and two optional chapter tasks to unlock the next chapter. When you complete three tasks, the fourth one that is left will disappear.
Go to the Three Broomsticks to start the mandatory chapter task. You’ll meet up with Hagrid, who needs help with a list of things, and you’ll suggest helping him.

You’ll need to complete several objectives to finish this mandatory chapter task. Feel free to do them in any order you prefer.

While doing these objectives, it is recommended to select the duration that matches their star requirements.

Prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever they are available.

Try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional attribute points.

Once you complete all of the tasks, hit the Collect button and return to the Three Broomsticks.

After you complete all the objectives, you can claim the reward in the Wizarding World n section of the Wizarding Life tab.

Choose the optional tasks you like. You can do Wrangle Books at the Research Lab which will give you Spinx Club Experience Points. Stop By The MoM in the Ministry of Magic where you can gain Dragon Club Experience Points, or Ministry Case Analysis at the Department Of Magical Law Enforcement where you can earn additional Dragon Club Experience Points and some Auror Experience Points.

Also, prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever they are available.

Try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional attribute points.

This will conclude Chapter 13 of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume 1. You will receive 400 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
