Chapter 15 – Oh Brother

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Fifteen of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume One of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous chapter, you encountered the president of the social club at Madam Puddifoot’s Tea Shop, revealed to be the famous Celestina Warbeck. After defeating her in wizarding chess, you proved yourself worthy of becoming a member of the prestigious social club. Celestina informed you that the club’s presidents constantly rotate, giving each member an opportunity to take on the role.

You learned that the next and first meeting with the club would be held at Bathilda Bagshot’s house, who is also a member. Celestina assured you that she would send you a letter and let you know when it was time to meet. Returning to the ROCC Division, you sought new information on the case involving Ruby’s death. After persuading Callum to share more details, he hinted that Fiendfyre wasn’t set to cover up a robbery and mentioned finding something in the rubble. However, Flump suspiciously interrupted your conversation.

A letter arrived, summoning you to the first meeting with the social club. At the meeting, you attempted to gather information related to your case. While you didn’t learn much, you discovered that several people purchased art at the charity auction that was set on fire, and you heard the unfamiliar name Felix Grooves. Celestina warned you not to peek through the ledger, but Felix’s signature caught your attention. Celestina agreed that his signature was intriguing and mentioned that Felix hadn’t attended for some time.

After a pleasant wish for the rest of the evening, you decided to meet with your boss to share the new information. After discussing the case with Flump, you concluded that there might be a connection between your case and Ruby’s death. However, Flump firmly rejected your request to join them in investigating and urged you to solve the case as quickly as possible. Meeting with Liz for advice, you were interrupted by Olivia, who delivered shocking news: your brother Jacob had gone missing.

Proceed to the Hogsmeade when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. You will ask Olivia anxiously how she came to the conclusion that Jacob has disappeared.

She will tell you that Jacob didn’t come home for dinner last night, and also not the night before.

Now you will be sure that your suspicions were correct that Jacob and Olivia are living together.

Olivia will tell you that it’s not something you should focus on now. She will then ask you what is more important to you, Jacob’s disappearance or the fact that they are living together. There are two different options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

Olivia will tell you that Jacob always informs her about his whereabouts, and this time he didn’t, not returning home. She’ll express her concern that something might have happened to your brother. Seeing Olivia genuinely distressed, you’ll suggest talking to her to calm her down.

To calm down Olivia, you need to earn five stars within one hour. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

The bonus progress action is tied to Olivia and your character. Prioritize this action to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

Olivia will thank you for calming her down, and she will say that she feels better now. You’ll suggest that she try to retrace her last steps with Jacob, as that might provide a clue. She will mention that she was with him a few nights ago, and everything seemed fine. Olivia will add that Jacob told her about the potions book you were trying to find.

She’ll mention that Jacob suddenly said it was very late and that he needed to go to bed, adding that it was the last time she saw him. You’ll find it strange, recalling that Jacob was indeed eager to find the Moste Potente Potions book. You’ll wonder if maybe talking about that book prompted him to go out searching for it on his own. 

Olivia will say it’s a good lead and that she feels more optimistic because of you. She’ll also mention that she didn’t know why Jacob hadn’t told you that they were living together.

Olivia will then ask you what interests you the most. There are three different options to choose from. Choose the option that you like the most.

Then Olivia will ask you to start searching for Jacob. You’ll come up with the idea that if he’s looking for the potions book, you should go and check with the only other person who knows about it.

Go to Fitzy Flourpuff’s Enchanted Cakery to meet with Jae. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive there, you’ll see Ismelda enjoying some cake.

When she sees you, she’ll immediately head towards the exit, passing by you without saying a word.

You’ll ask Jae if that was Ismelda and why she left so quickly. It will seem very strange to you, and you’ll feel a bit upset, leading you to think that everyone is keeping secrets from you.

Jae will ask you who is keeping secrets from you, and you’ll explain to him that your brother Jacob hid from you the fact that he’s living with Olivia. Jae will then inquire about your feelings regarding the situation. There are three options to choose from. If you like Jacob, it is recommended to pick the second option.

Jae will say that Jacob might have had a good reason for keeping it from you, and you’ll mention that you’ll ask him about it when you find him. Jae will appear quite puzzled upon hearing this.

You’ll explain to him that it’s the reason you came, adding that Olivia informed you about it because Jacob hasn’t returned home for a few days. This line will differ based on your previous choice. 

Then you’ll ask Jae if he has seen Jacob, and he’ll tell you that Jacob stopped by the bakery a few days ago and was determined to find the Moste Potente Potions book. Following that, you’ll suggest that he tell you what happened when Jacob came to the bakery.

To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

After the conversation with Jae, you’ll wonder if Jacob, in his unconventional search for the book, might have gone to an underground dealer. Jae will add that if you’re going to make a dodgy deal, you need to go somewhere dodgy.

Jae will agree with you and advise you to head there immediately because both of you know that the place can be very dangerous.

Proceed to Knockturn Alley when you are ready. When you arrive there, you will see your brother and Mungdungus.

You’ll tell Jacob that you’ve been looking everywhere for him and that Olivia is really worried about his disappearance. You’ll ask him what he’s doing here, and he’ll say that Mundungus has a copy of the Moste Potente Potions book. 

Mundungus will take offense at that and tell you that it’s an honest deal. He’ll suggest that you examine the book yourself. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

The bonus progress action is tied to your character. Prioritize this action to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

After examining the book, you’ll notice that the title of the book is written incorrectly.

Mundungus will think you’re talking nonsense, while Jacob will agree with you and recall seeing the real book in the Restricted Section at Hogwarts years ago and that it looked odd to him. You’ll apologize to Mundungus and assure him that you won’t make the deal after all, and he’ll apologize as well, stating that it was just a misunderstanding.

There are two options to choose from. If you like Mundungus, it is recommended to pick the first option.

You’ll then suggest to Jacob that you both leave from there. There are two options to choose from. This choice will affect the location of the next task. Choose the one you like more, and the second choice requires completion of the Apparation is Your Mission adventure.

After that, you and Jacob will head to the location you chose in the previous choice. You will need to wait three hours before you can continue. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Go to the Hog’s Head Inn once the waiting time is over. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. You’ll ask Jacob to explain why he disappeared like that, adding that he could have gotten lost or hurt.

Jacob will say that he knows you were supposed to find a way to break Verruca’s version of the Conjunctivitis curse together, but he’ll add that he’s the one living with the curse, not you, emphasizing that he needs to break that curse at his own pace and that it needs to happen soon.

He’ll say that he figured he could handle Knockturn Alley, and you’ll say that it doesn’t excuse his reckless behavior.

This line will differ based on your previous choice.

Following that, he’ll agree to tell you why he was in such a rush to break the curse, adding that it was because of Olivia. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Jacob. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

Jacob will say that the reason he is in such a hurry to break Verucca’s Conjunctivitis Curse is that he is in love with Olivia. There are two options to choose from. If you like Jacob, it is recommended to pick the first option.

You’ll ask him if Olivia knows about it, but he’ll say no and say that he tried to tell her a few days ago during a perfect evening under the stars, but he panicked and ran away.

Following that, you’ll ask him to explain what spending time with Olivia has to do with breaking his curse, and he’ll say the reason he didn’t tell her is that he doesn’t want his curse to feel like a burden on her. He’ll add that he doesn’t want her to be his caretaker, but his girlfriend, and he’ll ask you for advice. There are three options to choose from. If you like Jacob, it is recommended to pick the first option. 

Then you’ll suggest that Jacob stays with you until you’ve sorted everything out, so you can work more closely on the potion. Jacob will agree with you and say that he’s happy to have your support. You’ll decide to meet with Olivia to inform her that you’ve found Jacob.

You will need to wait four hours before you can continue. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Go to the Alleyway to continue once the waiting time is over. When you arrive, Olivia will tell you that she hasn’t found Jacob and doesn’t know where he might be.

You’ll reassure Olivia that you’ve found Jacob, and you’ll explain that he needed some time alone but is now safe and with you.

You’ll tell her that Jacob is fine, and it turns out he was searching for the Moste Potente Potions book on his own, but unfortunately, he came across the wrong book. This line will differ based on your previous choice. 

Olivia will be angry because Jacob didn’t tell her where he was going.

You’ll tell her that Jacob will stay with you for a while so that you can work together on breaking his curse. Ruby will express confusion about how you’ll have time for all of that with your duties at the ROCC, and you’ll tell her that Flump is not letting you investigate Ruby’s death, so you won’t be as busy as you had planned.

You’ll ask her what she means, and she’ll tell you that when she was working in the lab, she overheard a lot of conversations, sparking your curiosity. You’ll then ask her to share any updates related to the investigation into Ruby’s death.

To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

After finishing the conversation, you’ll learn that Callum is about to examine the evidence from the art gallery Fiendfyre in the ROCC lab. Olivia will mention that there’s something suspicious about it, but no one has been able to figure it out. 

You’ll thank Olivia for sharing that information with you and mention that you know where to go next. However, Olivia will ask you before you leave if Jacob has told you the reason for running off and not telling her. There are two options to choose from. If you like Jacob, it is recommended to pick the first option.

You’ll then decide to go to the ROCC lab to see if you can overhear anything about the art gallery fire.

Now that you have completed the story, you can start the mandatory and optional chapter tasks. You need to complete one mandatory chapter task and two optional chapter tasks to unlock the next chapter. When you complete three tasks, the fourth one that is left will disappear.

Go to your Three Broomsticks to start the mandatory chapter task. You’ll meet up with Orion, who wants you to join him on a special journey through his new life coaching techniques. He’ll tell you that he needs to test them on someone trustworthy before sharing them with his clients.

You’ll need to complete several objectives to finish this mandatory chapter task. Feel free to do them in any order you prefer. 

While doing these objectives, it is recommended to select the duration that matches their star requirements.

Prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever they are available.

Try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional attribute points. 

Once you complete all of the tasks, hit the Collect button and return to Three Broomsticks.

After you complete all the objectives, you can claim the reward in the Wizarding World n section of the Wizarding Life tab.

Choose the optional tasks you like. You can do Sample Sweets at the Honeydukes. Eavesdrop on Patrons at the Leaky Cauldron where you can gain Spinx Club Experience Points, Stop by Gringotts where you can earn additional Spinx Club Experience Points.

Also, prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever they are available.

Try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional attribute points.

This will conclude Chapter 15 of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume 1. You will receive 400 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
