Chapter 16 – Fire and Eyes

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Sixteen of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume One of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous part, you embarked on a quest to find your brother Jacob. After a conversation with Olivia, your suspicions were finally put to rest as it became clear that your brother was living with her.

However, you discovered that Jacob hadn’t returned home in two days, leaving Olivia deeply worried. She revealed that their last conversation revolved around a potions book Jacob was searching for. This led you to Jae, as both you and Jacob had discussed the book with him before. Jae informed you that Jacob had been there, determined to find the potion book to break his curse.

Unfortunately, Jae didn’t know where Jacob had gone next, leading you to speculate that he might have headed to Knockturn Alley in search of the book. Fortunately, you found Jacob there with Mundungus, who claimed to have a copy of the Moste Potente Potions book. Upon examination, you realized the title was incorrect, leading to a dead end in your search. Jacob explained that he was the one cursed, not you, and needed to break it at his own pace, revealing his feelings for Olivia as the reason for his urgency. Concerned, you asked if Olivia knew, but Jacob confessed he hadn’t told her and had left in a panic.

After informing Olivia of Jacob’s whereabouts and plans, she expressed relief but was understandably upset with him. She also revealed overhearing discussions about investigating Ruby’s death, with Callum about to examine evidence from the art gallery fire in the ROCC lab. Thanking Olivia, you headed to the ROCC Lab to gather more information about the fire.

Proceed to the Research Lab when you are ready to talk with Callum. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, Callum will greet you, and you’ll inquire about what he’s working on.

He’ll tell you that he’s getting ready to open the evidence locker and start working on the Fiendfyre investigation. Also, he’ll remind you that the last time you talked about the case, Flump nearly caught you, so you shouldn’t risk it.

You’ll tell him he might have hit a dead end because he only knows half the story, and your cases could be intertwined. He’ll respond that Flump informed him about your theory.

You’ll ask what he thinks, and he’ll tell you that he’d like to follow every lead, but he also believes that Flump has a reason for keeping you on the cursed quill case. However, you’ll be determined to convince Callum to share information with you.

To convince Callum to share information, you need to earn five stars within one hour. Three stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Callum and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

To your relief, you’ll manage to persuade Callum to reveal more information. He’ll say that there are still a lot of questions surrounding the art gallery fire, and you don’t know who or what was being targeted. However, one thing you do know is that all the art donated for the auction came from the same seller.

You’ll ask him if he knows the name of that seller, and surprisingly, it’s the name of your next lead, which actually proves that your cases are indeed connected.

You’ll add that Felix’s name was also in the social club guestbook, which means that Felix Grooves is a major connection between your two cases. Callum will agree with you, and then you’ll suggest looking at the evidence together, but unfortunately, you’ll hear a familiar voice, none other than your boss’s.

Flump will be angry because Callum gave you information about the case. There are two options to choose from. If you like Callum, it is recommended to pick the second option.

If you choose the first option, you will steal the key to the evidence locker and leave Callum with the Flump, Callum will resent you for it later. Therefore, it is recommended to choose the second option, where he’ll be grateful and will want to join forces to solve your cases.

These lines will differ based on your previous choice. 

Before you go, you will have a waiting period of three hours.

After the waiting time is over, go to the Workspace to continue the story. This line will differ based on your previous choice. 

That’s the evidence found in the investigation of the Fiendfyre.

Following that, Callum will approach you. These lines will differ based on your previous choice. 

In this case, Callum will say that he appreciates you standing up for him and wants to thank you by allowing you to examine the evidence. If you chose in the previous choice to leave Callum with Flump and go, he will blame you for stealing the key to the evidence locker, but will eventually agree to join forces in solving both cases.

Following that, he’ll ask how you feel about partnering with him. There are three options to choose from. If you like Callum, it is recommended to pick the first option.

You will then suggest looking through the evidence for clues. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

The bonus progress actions are tied to your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

You’ll notice that Ruby’s notebook has a name written in it, and it’s none other than Felix Grooves. You’ll wonder why Ruby noted his name, and Callum will suggest that Ruby might have been further along in your investigation than you knew. He’ll also add that she was likely tracking Felix to the art gallery.

You will get additional lines of dialogue and an additional choice, depending on your previous choices.

In any case, you’ll be certain that Felix Grooves is an important piece of the puzzle, and you must return to the social club to see if you can find him. Callum will agree with you but remind you that you’ll have to wait for your next invitation to the meeting. However, you’ll be determined not to wait idly, so you’ll decide to take the art evidence to an art expert for examination.

You’ll tell Callum that you know someone who has more knowledge about art than both of you, referring to your friend Badeea, and you’ll ask if you can show the painting and certificate to her.

He’ll say that you’ve already broken countless ROCC regulations, so you might as well break this one too, but he’ll caution you to be careful and to mask your intentions as best as possible, emphasizing the penalties for disclosing ROCC information to outsiders.

Following that, you’ll decide to meet up with Badeea at your apartment. Proceed to your Flat when you are ready. When you arrive there, you’ll see that Badeea is already there, and she’ll apologize for entering.  She’ll say that she had no idea you were so into art and that she’s chuffed to be a part of it.

When Badeea sees the painting, she’ll notice that it’s damaged from the fire, and she’ll tell you that before you continue, she has to ask you something. She’ll add that she has a feeling that you’re hiding something from her, mentioning first the strange Toy Chimp, then the mysterious death of a coworker at the art gallery, and now the burned painting. She’ll ask if you’re really just a janitor in Magical Maintenance.

There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

In any case, you’ll tell her that the reason you’ve invited her is because you need to know more about that painting – the artist who painted it, where it came from, and if there’s anything unusual about it.

Then you’ll suggest starting the examination of the painting. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

The bonus progress actions are tied to Badeea. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

When you finish, Badeea will say it’s a forgery, which will surprise you. She’ll add that it’s supposed to be a Magenta Comstock painting because her signature is at the bottom.

You will ask her how this is possible, considering that there is also a certificate of authenticity. Badeea will say that the certificate is also probably fake, and after a closer look, you will see that she is right because it is written in dark pink ink.

However, at that moment, you’ll see that you’ve received a letter, and you’ll think it’s the next invitation to the social club gathering.

Unfortunately, it won’t be because you’ve received an urgent request from Madam Umbridge to meet with her.

Before you go, you will have a waiting period of four hours.

When the waiting time is over, go to Office 34B at the Ministry of Magic to meet with Madam Umbridge. When you arrive there, you’ll see Madam Umbridge waiting for you. You’ll then tell her that you received her letter.

You’ll also add that you haven’t seen each other since Shiratori’s Wizengamot trial.

Following that, you’ll see that she won’t admit to what she’s done, so you’ll ask her why she called you. She’ll tell you that she’s been appointed as the new president of the Social Club. There are two different options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

She’ll say that as the new president, she’ll be handling things much differently than Celestina Warbeck did, and she’ll ask if you agree with her that Celestina’s methods for accepting new applicants were subpar. There are two options to choose from. If you like Celestina, it is recommended to pick the second option.

She’ll then say that she’s been reviewing all members to make sure they meet her rigorous standards.

You’ll ask her how you’ll know if you fit if you don’t know what type of club she’s running, and she’ll say to allow her to explain her vision for the social club. To understand Umbridge’s vision, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass. 

Bonus progress actions are tied to the tea tray and Madam Umbridge. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

Madam Umbridge’s vision is that she wants the most elite witches and wizards in her club. She’ll add that members should be popular, wealthy, relevant, and, most importantly, ambitious.

Then she’ll ask you what your greatest ambition is. There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

She’ll say that she has completed her evaluation, which will surprise you because she only asked you one question. However, she’ll assure you that she’s been evaluating you since the moment you walked through her door, and she’ll tell you that now that she’s in charge, your membership is revoked.

There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Following that, she’ll tell you that it’s too bad for you because you won’t be able to enjoy the cake she’ll be serving. 

That will give you the idea to meet up with a friend who’s a life coach.

Proceed to the Hogsmeade Train Station when you are ready. When you arrive there, you’ll see Tonks and Orion, and you’ll ask them what they’re talking about.

Orion will say that you’re probably there for your ultimate goal, and you’ll start explaining that you managed to join the social club but you have encountered complications.

Tonks will say she saw Madam Umbridge pull you aside for a chat earlier. You’ll mention that she revoked your club membership because you don’t meet her standards.

Shortly after, you’ll express that it’s important for you to get back into the club and suggest that you brainstorm together on ideas to get back in. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within one hour. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Orion and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

In the end, you’ve decided that you’re going to need to work with a second person to pull that off. You have two options: you have Tonks’s Metamorphmagus abilities at your disposal. Her idea is for her to impersonate a club member and take you as her guest to the next gathering. Alternatively, there’s Orion’s option, whose idea is for him to create a distraction so that you can sneak in.

Tonks will then ask you which method you want to choose to get into the club. Select the option that you like better.

Following that, you’ll say that you have another problem, which is that you don’t know where the next meeting will take place. However, Orion will tell you that you were given a clue without even realizing it.

You’ll remember that Madam Umbridge mentioned there would be cake.

These lines will differ based on your previous choice.

Now that you have completed the story, you can start the mandatory and optional chapter tasks. You need to complete one mandatory chapter task and two optional chapter tasks to unlock the next chapter. When you complete three tasks, the fourth one that is left will disappear.

Go to your Flat to start the mandatory chapter task. You’ll meet with Rath, who thinks that someone is forging her signature, and she needs your help to uncover who is behind it.

You’ll need to complete several objectives to finish this mandatory chapter task. Feel free to do them in any order you prefer. 

While doing these objectives, it is recommended to select the duration that matches their star requirements.

Prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever they are available.

Try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional attribute points. 

Once you complete all of the tasks, hit the Collect button and return to your Flat.

After you complete all the objectives, you can claim the reward in the Wizarding World n section of the Wizarding Life tab.

Choose the optional tasks you like. You can do Stop By Thr MoM at the Ministry of Magic where you can gain Dragon Club Experience Points. Hang Out With Friends at the Former Student Centre where you can gain Hippogriff Club Experience Points, Visit Hogsmeade where you can earn additional Dragon Club Experience Points.

Also, prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever they are available.

Try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional attribute points.

This will conclude Chapter 16 of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume 1. You will receive 400 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
