Chapter 35 – The Auror Programme

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Thirty-Five of Year Seven of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous chapter, you went back to Hogwarts to check if the Dark Scroll is still safely hidden. While talking to Corey in the Great Hall, Victor approached you and said that his coffin had gone missing.

To make things worse, the Dark Scroll was hidden inside the coffin, so you decided to look for it. Luckily, Andre told you that Peeves might have something to do with it, so you and Victor went to talk with the Poltergeist. As it turned out, Peeves was indeed responsible for the missing coffin, and he was assisted by the Weasley twins.

You went to talk to Fred and learned that he and George wanted to prank Victor. He told you that the coffin is a part of the prank and that you can find it in the kitchens. Shortly after, Victor and you went there, and upon opening the coffin, Victor realized that there was a glitter bomb inside.

He ended up getting covered in glitter, and it was an interesting sight, to say the least. Luckily, the Dark Scroll was still there, so you took it and went to meet with Jacob to discuss what to do next. After considering some options, you decided to give the scroll to your brother until you can find a safer place to hide it. Not long after that, Tonks arrived to inform you that the Auror assignment is soon to start.

Proceed to the Ministry Office when you are ready to start the assignment. Your arrival will startle Arthur Weasley.

He’ll tell you that a poltergeist is haunting a Muggle family, and you will immediately offer your help. You’ll point out that most of the poltergeists are harmless, but Mr. Weasley will advise you to be careful. You’ll need to complete several tasks to finish the assignment. Feel free to do them in any order you prefer.

Once you finish all of the tasks, hit the Collect button to return to the Ministry Office. Mr. Weasley will be quite happy with the work you’ve done. After all, getting rid of a poltergeist is not an easy task.

Now that you’re done with the lesson and the assignment, you can continue the story. Proceed to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say. Tonks will be quite excited about the assignment. Apparently, she was telling Merula how much she is looking forward to working with Aurors.

You’ll be curious about the assignment, and Tonks will list some of the possibilities. She’ll ask if you prefer to go undercover or train for magical combat. There are two options to choose from. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick either option.

Unfortunately, Merula won’t really be interested in being an Auror, and Tonks will find it hard to believe that the idea of hunting down bad guys doesn’t excite her. Merula will calmly point out that it isn’t always easy to tell who’s good and who’s bad. Moments later, Mad-Eye will arrive, and he’ll be glad to see you and your friends. As it seems, this will be your last school assignment.

Tonks will look forward to working in the Auror Office in the future, but Moody will remind the three of you that you are still students. He’ll advise you to follow his instructions unless you want to be sent back to Hogwarts, and all three of you will nod your heads in agreement. You’ll then get to learn about the assignment.

To complete this task, you’ll need to earn five stars within one hour. Three stars are needed to pass.

Apparently, you’ll be investigating a break-in at Gringotts. Merula will find it hard to believe that anyone would attempt to break into Gringotts. Tonks, however, will be determined to find out what happened, and Mad-Eye will tell you everything you need to do.

Once again, he’ll advise you not to do anything reckless. Merula will ask if it means letting the culprit get away in case any of you find the one responsible for the break-in. You’ll tell her that Moody only wants the three of you to be safe, and Tonks will also say a few words.

As for Mad-Eye, he’ll say it is highly unlikely that the robber is still at Gringotts. Shortly after, he’ll get back to his work, and you and your friends will leave the office.

Proceed to Gringotts when you are ready to continue. When you arrive, you’ll be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say. Bill will be surprised to see you.

You’ll politely greet Griphook. If this is your first time meeting him, he’ll introduce himself.

He’ll be surprised to see students working on a serious case. Tonks will explain that the three of you will be collecting witness statements and examining the crime scene. You’ll kindly ask Griphook to tell you what happened during the robbery. Thankfully, he’ll agree to give his witness statement. This line will differ based on whether or not you’re meeting him for the first time.

Interviewing Griphook requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

There are bonus progress actions tied to Griphook and a Diagon Alley Witch. Focus on those if you want to save some energy.

You’ll learn that the one who broke into Gringotts was a Dark Wizard wearing a cap. Unfortunately, you’ll need more than that to figure out who the culprit is. You’ll ask Griphook if the Dark Wizard was after something specific, and you’ll learn that the culprit was targeting the vault of Sir Elric Parpidum. Merula will be curious to know what’s inside that vault, but unfortunately, Griphook won’t be able to reveal that information.

Shortly after, he’ll go back to his work. Tonks will point out that you at least found out what the culprit looks like and the vault he tried getting into. Still, Mad-Eye wanted to know what the thief was after. Merula will ask if you are planning to research Sir Parpidum. You’ll nod and say that you might be able to figure out what’s in the vault by doing some research.

Merula will wonder why you want to do all the extra work. There are three options to reply with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to go with the option you prefer.

In the end, Merula will agree to help you research Sir Parpidum. As for Tonks, she’ll decide to look for more clues in the meantime. Moments later, you and Merula will leave Gringotts and head back to Hogwarts.

You’ll need to wait three hours before you can continue. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Head to the library once the waiting time is over. When you arrive, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you want to see what they have to say. You’ll thank Corey for meeting with you. With Tonks staying behind at Gringotts, any extra help would be useful.

Corey will be happy to help you with the research, and Merula won’t be surprised by that. Before the two of them start arguing, you’ll remind them about the research.

Also, it is highly likely that the culprit is working for ‘R’. Still, you’ll find it odd that ‘R’ knew about the Chinese Fireball claw. Corey will take a look at Merula without saying anything.

This will annoy the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts.

Corey will assume it was Merula who told ‘R’ about the ingredient. You’ll then get to pick a side. If you like Corey, it is recommended to pick the first option. If you like Merula, you should go with the second one.

You’ll realize there is a possibility that Healer Burke knew about the dragon claw. After all, he was around when Jacob was muttering about the ingredients. If that is the case, ‘R’ probably knows you have half of the Dark Scroll.

Merula will say she hasn’t heard anything about that. You’ll ask if she’s heard anything about the robbery at Gringotts. Sadly, she hasn’t. As it seems, only the higher-ups at ‘R’ know about every operation.

The Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts will refuse to do so because that would likely expose her as a double agent. In any case, you’ll need to find some other way to track down the culprit. You’ll suggest heading back to Mad-Eye and informing him about everything you learned.

Proceed to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement when you are ready to continue. Upon arriving, you’ll be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say. As it seems, Tonks already filled Mad-Eye in on what you learned from Griphook.

Moody will ask if you’ve learned anything about the owner of the vault. You and Merula will tell him that a Chinese Fireball claw was most likely inside the vault. You’ll also say that ‘R’ was probably behind the break-in. After thinking about it for a moment, Moody will ask Merula if there’s anything she has to say on the matter. She’ll calmly say she doesn’t know anything about the Gringotts break-in.

Perhaps the White-Robed Wizard has some answers. You’ll ask Moody if he can interrogate him. Merula will doubt that he’ll be able to cooperate. You’ll learn that the Ministry has been talking to Shiratori. Apparently, he might be willing to strike a deal under one condition.

Discussing the condition requires earning five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are needed to pass, it is not recommended to start this task with an empty energy bar.

You’ll learn that Shiratori only wants to talk to you.

And for that to happen, you’ll need to go to Azkaban. Tonks will wonder how you are feeling about it. There are three options to reply with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.

Merula will find it hard to believe that any of you will go to Azkaban. Under normal circumstances, she would be completely right about that. However, given the situation, talking to Shiratori might be the only way to find out the identity of the Dark Wizard who tried to rob Gringotts. In other words, you’ll be going to Azkaban. Merula will say that she hasn’t had the opportunity to see her parents ever since they were sent to prison.

Unfortunately for her, you’ll be the only student going to Azkaban. Needless to say, she won’t be happy to hear that. For a short while, Merula will glare angrily at Mad-Eye. Moments later, she will turn around and leave the office without saying a word.

Unfortunately, you won’t have time to deal with her temper. You’ll ask Mad-Eye what to do next. He will tell you to prepare as best you can. Talking to Professor Binns should help you learn more about Azkaban and its history. Tonks will happily offer to help you prepare.

You’ll need to wait four hours before Professor Binns is ready to see you. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Proceed to the History of Magic classroom once the waiting time is over. As it seems, Moody has already informed Professor Binns about your assignment.

Shortly after, the lecture will begin. Unfortunately, Professor Binns will find it hard to stay awake, and before long, he’ll fall asleep.

Tonks will remind him that he still needs to teach you about Azkaban. Thankfully, this will work, and Professor Binns will resume his lecture.

You’ll learn that wands are not allowed in Azkaban. In other words, wandless dueling would be useful there. Sadly, only a few moments later, Professor Binns will fall asleep again. You’ll wonder if there’s any point in waking him up again.

Chatting about Merula requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.

Both of you will agree that Merula was deeply affected by the imprisonment of her parents. Tonks will admit that she is relieved that she won’t be going to Azkaban. Still, she will feel a bit guilty about it, so she’ll offer to help you if you ever need anything.

You’ll smile and thank her for the support. She’ll say that you should do your best to prepare to interrogate Shiratori. You’ll agree with her. You’ll need to sharpen your skills if you want to find out who was responsible for the break-in. You’ll decide to meet with Jae and see if he can help you.

Head to the Artefact Room when you are ready to continue. When you arrive, you’ll see that Tonks has already rounded up Jae for you.

You’ll ask if he is okay with you interrogating him. Thankfully, Jae won’t mind it. After all, it can also help him prepare for the next time he needs to avoid detention. You’ll wonder where to begin, and Tonks will tell you that Jae was accused of taking something from Fred and George’s room.

You’ll then get to ask him questions and see if you can catch him in a lie. Questioning Jae requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this task if you are out of energy.

As it turns out, he was only curious about it. Jae will feel strange after you’re done reading his mind. Tonks, on the other hand, will be spooked by it. In that moment, you’ll suddenly realize what you’ve done. Needless to say, Jae won’t be too happy about it. There are three options for you to respond with. If you like Jae, it is highly recommended to apologize to him.

Tonks will admit she was intimidated by seeing you use the power of Legilimency. Still, going to Azkaban will be far more intimidating. You’ll figure out you’ve done everything you can to prepare. Tonks will wish you good luck before you go.
