Chapter 42 – A Study in Green

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Forty-Two of Year Seven of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous chapter, you met Corey in the courtyard and talked about what happened. While the two of you were talking, you got a letter from Jacob informing you that your father invited the two of you to Leaky Cauldron for family dinner. You went there, and unfortunately, Jacob got angry at Peregrine and left the place.

You went after him and found him in the Diagon Alley. After talking for a bit, you told him about the new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, Olivia Green. Needless to say, he was quite surprised to hear that. You noticed Ben heading to Flourish and Blotts, so you decided to follow him. He told you he sometimes visits the place because it reminds him of Rowan.

After talking for a while, you realized you need to reunite the Circle of Khanna, so you asked everyone to meet you in the courtyard. Nearly all of them showed up, all except Merula. You informed them about the kidnapping and also warned them Olivia might be working with ‘R’. Now is the time to do some investigating and see if you can find any evidence that could connect Olivia with ‘R’.

But before that, you should finish lessons and assignments. Head to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom when you are ready. To unlock the Bombarda Maxima lesson, you need to earn a total of nine stars from the Defence Against the Dark Arts classes. Select the class duration you prefer and hit Start to begin.

Prioritize the bonus progress actions to save energy.

Also, try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks successfully to earn some additional Courage points.

Go back to the classroom once you earn enough stars to unlock the lesson. To complete the Bombarda Maxima lesson, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Because of that, it is not recommended to start this lesson if you are out of energy.

Follow the same steps you took while you were doing the previous classes and you’ll be done in no time.

Upon earning the fifth star, you will be tasked with casting the spell. Trace the wand movement to complete this task.

Once you’re done, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You’ll earn an additional reward for completing the lesson. You can claim it in the Defence Against the Dark Arts section of your Hogwarts Record.

Go to the courtyard when you are ready to start the assignment. Once you arrive, Jae will tell you he needs your help. You’ll learn that someone is undercutting his prices, which is causing him to lose business. Needless to say, he won’t be happy about it.

He will ask you to investigate the matter and find out who is undercutting his prices. You will need to finish several tasks to complete this assignment. Feel free to do them in any order you prefer.

While doing these tasks, it is recommended to select the duration that matches their star requirements.

As always, prioritize the bonus progress actions to save energy.

And try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some extra attribute points.

Once you finish all the tasks, hit the Collect button and return to the courtyard to meet Jae.

As it turns out, Fred and George were the ones undercutting Jae’s prices.

Your friend will admit he is proud of them. He’ll decide to up his game and work harder than ever. You will earn a reward for completing the assignment.

Now that you’re done with lessons and assignments, you can continue the story. Head to Muggle Studies to meet Professor Sikander. You’ll find the professor experimenting with the blender.

He will be surprised to see you. You’ll tell him there is something you want to ask him about a recent lesson. He’ll be curious to know what lesson you’re talking about. There are three options to choose from. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to go with the option you prefer.

You will then use your wits to change the topic of the conversation.

You’ll learn that Professor Sikander knows a lot about other professors. Still, he will be hesitant to tell you about it.

However, thanks to your cleverness, he will change his mind and agree to tell you more. Gathering information is your next task. To complete it, you need to earn five stars within one hour. Three stars are required to pass.

There are two bonus progress actions tied to Professor Sikander. Prioritize them to save a bit of energy.

When you are done, you’ll tell Professor Sikander you’re impressed, and he’ll happily accept your praise.

You’ll then ask him about Olivia. According to Professor Sikander, she likes to spend the early afternoon in the courtyard.

Shortly after, you’ll decide to leave the classroom. Your previous choice will take effect here.

Head to the courtyard when you are ready to continue. Once you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say. After greeting Talbott, you will tell him you learned some things about Professor Green. You’ll say you want to spy on her and see if you can notice anything suspicious.

Talbott will wonder why you thought he would be suitable for a spy mission. Suddenly, he will spot Olivia sitting near the fountain.

He’ll suggest hiding behind one of the statues. You’ll smile and praise his hawk-like vision. You will ask Talbott if he thinks Olivia is up to something suspicious. After looking at her, he’ll say that she is simply writing something in her journal. You’ll decide to find a way to look into her book, but Talbott won’t think there’s anything suspicious about her writing.

Still, there is always a chance she could be writing something suspicious. There are three options to choose from. This choice won’t have any big impact on the story, so feel free to go with the option you prefer.

In the end, Talbott will agree to take a closer look. Suddenly, Professor McGonagall will approach Olivia, so your friend will decide not to risk being seen.

Having no better option, you’ll suggest getting a bit closer and listening in on their conversation. You need to earn five stars within eight hours to complete this task. All five stars are required to pass.

There are actions linked to Professor McGonagall, Olivia, and your character. Focus on those actions if you are looking to save energy.

You’ll learn that Olivia has nothing but pleasant memories of Hogwarts. You will find it extremely odd, especially since she was searching for the Cursed Vaults during her time as a student.

Talbott will remind you that there is not much information about Olivia’s involvement with ‘R’. According to him, she could be covering for something. You’ll agree with him and say that you probably won’t learn anything else from spying. In other words, you’ll need to do some digging to uncover the truth.

You will decide to gather the Circle of Khanna and tell them what you’ve learned. Hopefully, your friends will help you figure out what to do next. You will need to wait three hours before you can continue. Since you will probably be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Go to the boathouse once the waiting time is over. When you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of your friends. Tap on those to see what they have to say. You’ll thank everyone for coming and tell them about your spying mission. Talbott will add that neither of you could see what Olivia was writing in her journal. He’ll also say that she didn’t mention ‘R’ while you were there.

Tonks will make a remark and chuckle after hearing that.

You’ll say that you found it extremely odd Olivia was so thrilled to be back at Hogwarts.

Tonks will ask if you think it is something to worry about. There are two options to reply with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick either option.

In any case, you will need to find a way to look into Olivia’s notebook. Tonks will suggest stealing it. The choice you made in the courtyard will take effect here.

You will definitely need a solid plan in order to steal Olivia’s notebook without getting noticed. Planning the heist is your next task. To complete it, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

There are bonus progress actions tied to Jae, Tonks, and your character. Prioritize those actions to save energy.

After considering things, you’ll decide to keep the team small. Tonks will also suggest an appropriate name for the team.

The team will consist of three people, with Tonks volunteering as the lookout and Jae expressing his interest in being part of the search team. With everything planned, the Khanna Capper Crew will be ready for their first heist.

Proceed to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom when you are ready to start the operation. Interestingly enough, Jae will be able to open the door to Olivia’s office using Alohomora. Tonks will wonder why the office wasn’t protected against such a spell.

You’ll simply assume she hasn’t had the chance to set up better security. After taking a good look around, Jae will notice plenty of valuable items.

He’ll ask if you’d be okay with him taking some of those items. There are three options to reply with. If you like Jae, it is recommended to pick the second option. Otherwise, feel free to pick whichever one you prefer.

In any case, you will decide to focus on the mission. Jae’s job will be to keep watch while Tonks and you search the office. Searching Olivia’s office is your next task. To complete it, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass.

There are bonus progress actions tied to Tonks and Jae. Focus on those if you want to save energy.

Tonks will decide to take a look at the notebook and see if she can spot anything suspicious. Suddenly, she will trip and knock over a painting. Behind it, you’ll spot a strange chest.

Upon opening it, you will find several glass vials filled with silver wispy content. All of the vials will be labeled O.G. You’ll quickly figure out it stands for Olivia Green.

Suddenly, Jae will inform you that Olivia is on her way to the office. You’ll decide to quickly put everything back and leave the place.

You will need to wait four hours before you can continue. Since you will probably be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait until this timer runs out. That way, your energy will recharge in the meantime.

Proceed to the training grounds once the waiting time is over. When you arrive, you will be able to interact with some of your friends and see what they have to say. You’ll gather up your friends and tell them about the strange vials you found in Professor Green’s office.

Jae will tell you that the vials likely contain memories. According to him, those could sell well on the black market. However, he’ll make it clear that he will never sell other people’s memories.

You’ll assume that Olivia or someone else removed her unpleasant memories. That is probably the reason she only has fond memories of Hogwarts. Penny will wonder why anyone would want to keep the unpleasant memories around. You won’t be able to answer her question. The only way to know for sure is to look at those memories.

Jae will tell you that you need a Pensieve to look at memories, emphasizing that these objects are incredibly hard to come by. However, you’ll express confidence that the Circle of Khanna can find one. Suddenly, a familiar voice interrupts, and you’ll turn around to see Merula standing nearby, expressing her displeasure at not being invited to the meeting.

Tonks will say that she wasn’t invited because she kidnapped Corey. This is when one of your previous choices will take effect.

Merula will tell everyone that you and Corey met the leader of ‘R’. She’ll also say that the leader of ‘R’ is your father.

Your friends will need a moment to take in that information. Everyone will react differently, but pretty much no one will stay indifferent.

Penny will find it hard to believe Merula’s words. As for Ben, you’ll notice the disappointment in his eyes. Having no other options, you’ll ask your friends to give you a chance to explain yourself. You need to earn five stars within three hours to complete this task. All five stars are required to pass, which is why you shouldn’t start this task if you are out of energy.

Be sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There are bonus progress actions tied to Merula, Barnaby, and Talbott. Prioritize those actions to save energy.

You’ll explain why you didn’t inform your friends about your father being the leader of ‘R’. You will tell them you needed time to think it all through. You’ll also admit that you don’t always know the best answer to every problem.

Tonks will remind you that ‘R’ is responsible for Rowan’s death.

You’ll ask if it means she cannot forgive you. She’ll calmly say she needs time to process everything. Moments later, all of your friends will quietly leave the courtyard.

You’ll scold Merula for revealing the information to everyone. Sadly, she won’t seem to care too much about it.

Still, you won’t be willing to give up easily. You’ll decide to do everything in your power to fix things.
