Chapter 51 – A Simple Demonstration
Introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Fifty-One of Year Seven of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous chapter, you met Jacob near the Black Lake to tell him what you’ve learned so far about Ryusaki’s amulet. Jacob was skeptical about your research, and he proposed to meet with your father together to see if you might sense any dark magic from the amulet.
Later, at the Three Broomsticks, your dad Peregrine reassured you that the amulet is not cursed and that he is very careful not to take something cursed. He gave you more details about why he carries it. Interestingly enough, you haven’t sensed any dark magic from it. You were also surprised that Jacob decided to rejoin ‘R’, and you were worried about that.
You discussed the potential motives for Jacob’s return to ‘R’ with your friends in the Great Hall. At the end of the discussion, you figured out that it is best to have a direct talk about it with Jacob himself.
You met your brother near Black Lake again. Jacob explained that the Ministry is not doing its job, like catching Death Eaters. Because of that, nobody is safe, and someone needs to fight the corrupt regime. In his eyes, ‘R’ is the only alternative.

To save energy, you should prioritize actions with bonus progress.
Try to succeed in the lesson’s mini-tasks so you can earn additional Courage points.
When you collect enough stars, return to the Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom to start the Furnunculus class. To complete the Furnunculus class, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.
As with any lesson, try to prioritize actions with bonus progress to save as much energy as possible, and try to complete the mini-task for extra attribute points.
Once you complete the lesson, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. Don’t forget to claim additional rewards from this lesson in the Defence Against the Dark Arts section of the Hogwarts Record.
Go to the Clocktower Courtyard when you are ready to start the assignment. After learning about the mind-control experiment, Corey has been upset and worried about you. Because of that, your Gryffindor friend decided to help you with some last-minute training so that you could be as prepared as possible for the upcoming dangerous mission.
You will have to do several tasks to complete the assignment. Feel free to do them in any order you like.
It is recommended to select the task duration that matches its star requirements.
It is recommended to focus on actions that will give you bonus progress, so you can save energy.
Try to succeed in mini-tasks to earn extra attribute points.
When you complete all of the tasks, hit the Collect button and go back to the Clocktower Courtyard.
Corey will admire the skill you showed during the training and will think that you are now ready to confront your dad.
Don’t forget to claim a reward for completing the assignment. You can find it in the Hogwarts section of the assignments.
Now that you’re done with the lessons and assignments, you can unfold the next part of the story.
When you are ready, go to the Ministry Archives. Elton will be aware that you came with urgent matters because he received your message earlier. He assumed you might wish to find out more about the amulet, but you will say there’s more to talk about. Mr. Elderberry will be happy to help you, but first, he will need to know what is happening.
To ask Elton for advice, you need to earn five stars within one hour. Three stars are required to pass.
Actions with bonus progress are tied to your character, Elton, Herbert, and the pile of papers. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.
Elton will recognize that the artifact is a great danger to the Wizarding world and will say that Peregrine’s experiment must be stopped.
He will also mention that the artifact, the Crown of Mneme, has spent an age in the Sunken Vault. The Crown may be tainted by the Dark magic from the Sunken Vault, making your mission even more dangerous.
Mr. Elderberry will say that you don’t have to do everything yourself. He will advise you to let the Aurors handle the situation. You will have three options to choose from. This choice won’t have a significant impact on the story, so feel free to select whichever one you agree with.
For the next task, go to the Clocktower Courtyard. Some of the members of the Circle of Khanna won’t be there, but you will thank those who made it.
You will inform the members about the dreadful situation, and how ‘R’ has all the necessary components to use mind control. Tulip will be somewhat skeptical if you should stop ‘R’, while Corey will be supportive.
Merula will arrive, trying to get a word. Depending on whether or not she’s still part of the Circle of Khanna, the following line will differ.
Merula will tell you that her aunt sent her to escort you to where the experiment will be conducted. Corey will see the opportunity in this. You have three options on how to react to Corey’s idea. This choice won’t have any big impact on the story, so pick the option you prefer.
Merula will suggest that you pretend to have joined ‘R’. Furthermore, only one member of the Circle should join you and Merula because many of them could attract suspicion. Before you choose an additional companion, you need to finish evaluating options with your friends. To do this, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.
Actions with bonus progress are tied to your character and Penny. It is recommended to prioritize these actions to save some energy.
Ultimately, you will get to choose between Penny, Barnaby, and Talbott. Choose carefully! This decision will have a great impact on the story later.
Before you go to the location of the experiment, you need to wait four hours.
Once the waiting time is over, go to the Whomping Willow. You, Merula, and the friend you chose will enter the Shrieking Shack to meet Peregrine. He’ll be delighted to see you. He will notice that you brought a friend, and the following dialog will differ depending on which friend you chose to bring with you.
Your father will ask why you suddenly changed your mind. Feel free to pick whichever option suits you because this decision won’t have a significant impact on the story.
You will try to distract your dad while the friend you brought along tries to steal the Crown. To distract him, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.
Bonus progress will be tied to your character and the Crown of Mneme. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.
Unfortunately, Peregrine will catch your friend red-handed.
He will cast Petrificus Totalus on your friend. Your father will be very hurt that you lied to him. He had a feeling that you were not honest, but he wished to believe you. You will ask your dad to let go of your friend, but you will learn something horrible. Your dad wants to use your friend as a subject for the experiment.
When you are ready, go upstairs.
You will warn dad that there’s too much risk and unknown factors to conduct the experiment, and Jacob may end up being hurt. Peregrine will ask if you really think he would let Jacob be part of the test if he knew something bad would happen.
Peregrine will proceed with the test. For the first phase, Jacob needs to drink Dai Ryusaki’s mind-enhancing potion.
This potion should greatly enhance Jacob’s mental abilities. You’ll learn that Merula informed ‘R’ about the ingredients that were on your side of the Dark Scroll. Unfortunately, she was forced to reveal that information because of the Unbreakable Vow she took with her aunt.
Before completing the potion, your father will show you a wand. It is the same wand that was stolen from Ollivanders.
This wand will be powerful enough to successfully finish the potion. When the potion is ready, Jacob will drink it.
You will urge Peregrine to test the Crown’s powers on you instead of on your friend, but your father won’t be willing to risk you because your Legilimency is even more powerful than Jacob’s.
He will still hope that you are going to change your mind after the experiment. There are three options for you to reply with. Unfortunately, none of those will convince Peregrine to change his mind, so feel free to choose whichever you like.
Your brother will adorn the Crown and the test is about to begin. You will need to think about how to save your friend. To complete this task, you’ll need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. It is recommended to start this task when your energy bar is full.
Actions with bonus progress will be tied to Merula, Peregrine, and to your friend. Prioritize those actions to save energy. Don’t forget to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions.
Peregrine will tell Jacob to order your friend to hop on one foot.
After some time, Jacob will feel that the Crown is getting cold. He’ll also feel pain, heartbreak, and anger. This will be proof to you that the Crown of Mneme is indeed cursed.
Your father will order Jacob to cast all these negative emotions into your friend. In his excitement, he will reveal that this will be the way to use the Crown to destroy the Ministry. Jacob will try to resist the powers of the artifact, but eventually, he will hurt your friend.
After realizing what he has done, your brother will throw the Crown to the floor, and he will say that he won’t take part in the test anymore.
Your dad will command you to put the Crown on your head, but instead, you will use wandless magic to cast Flipendo on the Crown.
This will buy some time for you, Jacob, and your friend to apparate away. You should visit your friend in the Hospital wing, but first, you need to wait three hours.
Once the waiting time is over, go to the Hospital Wing. Your friend will be severely hurt. Jacob will feel huge regret for what he has done because he believed Dad. He will ask for your forgiveness. If you like Jacob, it is recommended to choose the first option.
You will ask your brother why he joined ‘R’, but he will be reluctant to tell you his reasons. To get Jacob to open up, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.
Actions with bonus progress are tied to Jacob and your friend. As always, prioritize those actions to save some energy.
Jacob will explain that the only thing that motivated him when he was trapped inside the portrait for years was the thought of reuniting with his family one day once he is freed. He will ask if you wish the same. If you would like your family to be reunited, you should pick the first option.
Jacob was blinded by his love for the family, and he hoped everyone would be together again when Dad returned.
You’ll sympathize with your brother and understand that his intentions weren’t bad. You will also point out that you have a new family, and those are friends who care about you from Hogwarts. Jacob will agree with you and will decide to reconcile with his old friends Olivia and Duncan.
You’ll decide to help your brother, but first, you need to go to Dumbledore and inform him about what happened. This will be the end of Chapter 51 of Year 7. You will receive 2000 Experience Points and 350 Coins.
What will Dumbledore say once he learns what happened? Will you get punished? Find out in the next chapter of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery.
