The Tale of Pumpkin Johnny Part 3

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 3 of our Walkthrough for The Tale of Pumpkin Johnny Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous part, you went to Hagrid’s Garden to meet your friends. When you arrived, you saw that all of the pumpkins were destroyed. Needless to say, Hagrid was devastated by that, and you decided to look for clues while cleaning up the place. You found a note saying, ‘Penny is first’.

Later on, while you were in the Great Hall, Mr. Filch arrived and informed everyone that a girl had been attacked in the corridor. The one who was attacked was Penny, and after investigating the scene, you found a note saying, ‘Pumpkin Johnny is here to teach you a lesson’. You then visited Penny in the Hospital Wing. Thankfully, she wasn’t injured.

Barnaby wanted to do something to help, so he went to get Penny’s spellbooks. Not long after that, Tonks showed you a note saying, ‘Barnaby is next’. You quickly decided to go after him and make sure he is okay. Go to the Potions classroom when you are ready.

Since the adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]

You will find Barnaby lying on the ground, with a pumpkin on his head.

Unfortunately, he’ll mistake you for Pumpkin Johnny. He will take out his wand and start casting spells at you. You’ll have to do something to calm him down before he destroys the classroom.

You need to earn five stars within eight hours to stop Barnaby. All five stars are required to pass.

There are bonus progress actions tied to Barnaby and some potion ingredients. Prioritize those actions to save energy.

In the end, you’ll decide to use Petrificus Totalus to stop Barnaby.

Luckily, you’ll finally manage to get your friend to listen to you. After you undo the effects of your spell, Barnaby will tell you what happened to him.

Shortly after he entered the classroom, he got the feeling that someone was behind him. Once he turned around, he saw Pumpkin Johnny standing behind him. Moments later, he got hit by the Pumpkin-Head Jinx.

Thankfully, he wasn’t injured when he fell down.

He’ll admit he isn’t in the mood for attending the pumpkin party. There are two options to reply with. If you like Barnaby, it is recommended to pick the first option.

You’ll then decide to meet with your friends and discuss the situation. Go to the courtyard when you are ready to continue.

Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.

You will tell your friends you took Barnaby to the Hospital Wing. Tulip will say that rumors about Pumpkin Johnny are spreading all over the school.

Ben will be quite sure that the threat of Pumpkin Johnny is very real. Tulip, however, will say that it could all be some elaborate hoax.

You’ll also voice your opinion. The choice you made while talking to Tonks in the corridor will take effect here.

In any case, you need to gather more information. You will suggest splitting up to investigate multiple leads at once.

Ben’s response will differ, depending on your current progress of the main story.

He’ll remind you that the note Mr. Filch found said ‘Pumpkin Johnny is here to teach you a lesson’.

You will assume the possibility that the whole thing is an elaborate hoax. You’ll wonder who could be responsible for it.

According to Tulip, all clues are pointing to the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts. Speaking of Merula, you’ll notice her approaching you. Ben won’t be happy to see her.

Surprisingly enough, she’ll apologize to you and your friends for performing the summoning ritual in Hagrid’s garden.

She will say that she had a terrible nightmare about Pumpkin Johnny.

There are three options for you to reply with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so you can feel free to pick the option you prefer. If you like Merula, it is somewhat recommended to pick the second option.

In the end, you’ll agree to let her stay.

Making a plan is your next task. You need to earn five stars within three hours to complete it. All five stars are required to pass.

There are actions with bonus progress tied to Tulip and your character. Focus on those actions to save energy.

You will decide to split up to cover more ground. Ben’s job will be to go to the library and search for any evidence of a student named Johnny.

Tulip will be tasked to investigate if there’s anyone at Hogwarts who could be pranking others as Pumpkin Johnny.

You’ll task Tonks to investigate Dagbert Pips and find out if he is trustworthy.

Lastly, Merula and you will investigate the Potions classroom and other scenes to see if you missed any clues.

Before you leave the place, Merula will tell you she left her favorite copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard in the Dueling Room.

If you are dating Merula and have completed her special adventure, On the Same Page, you will get an additional line of dialogue here.

She’ll tell you she wants to get her book back as soon as possible. After considering it for a moment, you’ll decide to go with her. Your previous choice will take effect here.

You’ll need to wait three hours before you can continue. Since you will probably be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait until this timer runs out.

Go to the Dueling Room once the waiting time is over. As soon as you arrive, Merula will spot her book on the ground.

After picking it up, she’ll thank you for accompanying her. She will admit she got spooked by the whole situation.

You’ll remind her that you should continue the investigation. Suddenly, Merula will find a note in her book.

According to the note, the two of you are Pumpkin Johnny’s next targets.

You’ll notice the scared look on her face. Moments later, she’ll tell you to watch your back.

You will turn around and spot Pumpkin Johnny pointing his wand at you.

Seconds later, both Merula and you will be hit by the Melofors Jinx. Suddenly, everything will go dark. You’ll need to find a way out and call for help.

You need to earn five stars within eight hours to complete this task. All of the stars are required to pass.

Be sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There are bonus progress actions tied to Merula’s book, the wall, and the Dueling Plaque. Prioritize those actions to save energy.

After a while, Tulip will enter the room and find you and Merula. The choice you made in the courtyard will take effect here.

Moments later, all three of you will leave the place. Go to the Hospital Wing when you are ready.

Tulip will ask if you managed to see your attacker. You’ll nod and say that it was pretty scary.

She’ll say that you can cross Merula off your list of suspects. Sadly, you didn’t find any new clues. You’ll ask your friends if any of them had any luck with their investigation.

Unfortunately, they didn’t find anything major. Tulip will decide to tell you what happened while you were pumpkined.

You need to earn five stars within three hours to complete this task. All five stars are required to pass.

There are bonus progress actions linked to Barnaby, Ben, and Merula. Prioritizing those actions should save you some energy.

Ben will tell you he was unable to find anything resembling the Pumpkin Johnny story in the school records.

Tulip also didn’t have any luck with her investigation. Tonks will smile and say she has an interesting theory.

According to her, there is a chance Dagbert Pips might be responsible for what happened.

However, her theory will be far-fetched, to say the least. She’ll say there is a possibility that Dagbert Pips destroyed Hagrid’s pumpkins to get rid of competition, and created a pumpkin-human hybrid called Pumpkin Johnny.

You’ll then get to voice your opinion. There are three options to choose from. Other than changing a few dialogue lines, this choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.

Tulip will tell you there is one more thing you should know. Apparently, Pumpkin Johnny was spotted multiple times at the edge of the Forbidden Forest recently.

You’ll decide to go there next and stop Pumpkin Johnny.
