Portrait Panic Part 3

VIDEO ADVERTISEMENT

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 3 of our Walkthrough for Portrait Panic Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. Last time, you went to the library to study Sir Cadogan in order to find a way to convince him to return to his painting. With some help from Penny and Badeea, you realize that the best way to convince Sir Cadogan to leave the party would be to tell him there is a fearsome creature that needs to be vanquished.

You decided to paint one such creature, so you asked Liz to find a suitable subject for the painting. Unfortunately, all she could find on such short notice was an adorable Fanged Puffskein. Having no other options, you decided to paint the Fanged Puffskein and enhance some of its features to make it look more fearsome in the painting. Luckily, you were able to do that. Later on, you returned to the courtyard where you convinced Sir Cadogan that the Fanged Puffskein was a worthy foe for him.

Once he left the party, Violet turned her attention to a wizard poet, Percival Pratt. You decided to write a poem that would make Percival Pratt homesick so that he would leave the party and return to his painting. Thankfully, Talbott agreed to assist you with that, and thanks to his help, you managed to write a nice poem about home. Now is the time to continue where you left off.

[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 7 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 5 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]

Once you start this part, you will be met with a waiting period of five hours. Since you will most likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Head to the Courtyard once the waiting time is over. Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of your friends. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say. You will be quite confident that your plan is going to work.

You will approach the painting and ask Percival Pratt for a moment of his time. He will tell you a few words about poetry and encourage you to rhyme at every opportunity. He’ll wonder if there’s something that you need from him.

portrait panic part 3 021

You’ll tell him there is a poem you just wrote, and Percival will be eager to hear your poem, so you will start reciting the poem you wrote earlier.

The final part of your poem will differ, based on your previous choice.

portrait panic part 3 030

Once you are done reciting, you will politely bow. After asking Percival if your poem reminded him of his home, he will immediately decide to return to his portrait in the Grand Staircase and write some poetry.

Violet will be disappointed to see Percival leave the party. You will inform her that it’s time for the party to end, however, she won’t be willing to leave.

portrait panic part 3 041

You will kindly ask her to tell you why that is the case. Learning why Violet won’t leave the party requires earning five stars within one hour. Three stars are needed to pass.

portrait panic part 3 044

There is a reward action tied to your character. Prioritize your actions if you want to save a bit of energy.

portrait panic part 3 055

Apparently, Violet decided to shift her attention to Giffard Abbott and his dog.

portrait panic part 3 064

You will ask the Fat Lady if she is determined to stay at the party until she gets the chance to spend some time with Violet. As it seems, that is indeed the case. Unfortunately, Violet completely ignored her so far.

The Fat Lady will ask if you think that Giffard Abbott is more interesting than her. There are three options to reply with. This choice won’t have any big impact on the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.

portrait panic part 3 069

You’ll decide to talk to Giffard Abbott and try to convince him to return to his portrait. You’ll ask him nicely to go back home to his dog. He’ll tell you his dog is lost and ask if you’ve seen him.

portrait panic part 3 077

You will tell him that you haven’t seen his dog, but you will be willing to look for him. Giffard Abbott will tell you to return to him once you find his dog.

portrait panic part 3 079
portrait panic part 3 080

When you’re prepared to proceed, you decide to visit Hagrid and seek his assistance in locating the missing dog, heading to Hagrid’s garden. Upon your arrival, Hagrid kindly inquires if there’s anything he can do to assist you.

portrait panic part 3 088

You’ll tell him you need help finding Giffard Abbott’s missing dog. And given that Fang runs off quite often, Hagrid should definitely know how to deal with the situation. You will also say that you need to find the dog in order to get Giffard Abbott to return to his portrait. That way, both you and Jae will avoid getting detention.

portrait panic part 3 093

Hagrid will quickly realize that you had something to do with the missing portrait subjects. You can choose to accept the blame or pass it. If you like Jae, it is recommended to take the blame. He will appreciate it if you do.

portrait panic part 3 095

Hagrid will tell you that you need to think like a dog if you want to find the one that is missing. You will then get to play with Fang for a while. This requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

portrait panic part 3 104

Be sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There are bonus actions linked to your character, Hagrid, and Fang. Prioritize those if you want to save as much energy as possible.

portrait panic part 3 115

You will realize that Fang’s primary interest is food. If the same can be said about Giffard Abbott’s dog, he probably went to look for a snack. You’ll figure out that you might be able to find the missing dog near some painting with food.

portrait panic part 3 144

However, there are a lot of such paintings at Hogwarts. Jae will wonder if there’s enough time to check all of them. You can choose to either reassure him or express your doubts. If you like Jae, it is recommended to stay positive and select the first option.

portrait panic part 3 145

You’ll decide to start the search at the Grand Staircase since that’s where most of the portraits are located.

portrait panic part 3 152

Head to the Grand Staircase when you are ready. Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say. You’ll realize that you need to be quick, as the staircase is in a state of chaos with all the students hanging around. Once you fix everything, Jae will finally get to enjoy his birthday.

portrait panic part 3 165

He will interrupt you mid-sentence and say that he didn’t ask you to throw a party for him. You’ll be a little surprised to hear that. He’ll continue and mention that he also never requested a painting of the Three Broomsticks. Due to all of this, he has already missed two of his birthday traditions.

portrait panic part 3 169

You’ll find it odd that he is behaving like that.

portrait panic part 3 170

He’ll calmly say that his birthday means a lot to him, which is why he always tries to avoid detention on that day. You’ll assure him that there’s still time to set things right. Additionally, you’ll remind him that you’ve successfully persuaded Sir Cadogan and Percival Pratt to return to their paintings. That will give Jae some peace of mind.

portrait panic part 3 176

Shortly after, you will start looking for the missing dog. Searching the paintings requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this task if your energy is low.

portrait panic part 3 180

There will be a lot of reward actions during this task, which should allow you to save some energy.

portrait panic part 3 183

Eventually, you will locate the missing dog. All that’s left is to lure him away from the painting.

portrait panic part 3 200

Jae will take out some snacks and suggest using them to lure the dog. You’ll find it strange that he’s carrying those with him. He’ll explain that he always has some snacks on hand in case he comes across Fang or another dog. You’ll take the bag of snacks and use them to attract the dog.

portrait panic part 3 208

Luckily, it will work, and the dog will return to his painting.

portrait panic part 3 209

You will ask Jae if he wants to talk about whatever is upsetting him. He will kindly ask you to drop the subject. You can choose whether you want to push the subject or agree to drop it. If you like Jae, it is highly recommended to pick the second option.

portrait panic part 3 212

Jae will appreciate it if you agree to drop the subject.

portrait panic part 3 216

He will suggest heading back to inform Giffard Abbott that his dog is back to its portrait. Proceed to the Courtyard when you are ready. Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of your friends. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say. You will happily inform Giffard Abbott that you’ve managed to locate his dog.

portrait panic part 3 232

He will thank you and Jae for finding his dog. Moments later, he will leave the party and return to his painting.

portrait panic part 3 237

Once again, Violet will be disappointed to see another interesting character leave the party.

portrait panic part 3 239

Seeing the others leaving, she will decide to go back to her portrait. She will leave before you get the chance to say anything.

portrait panic part 3 242
portrait panic part 3 243

You’ll hope that the Fat Lady will do the same and return to her post at Gryffindor Tower. However, she won’t be willing to do that.

portrait panic part 3 245

You’ll try to explain why it is important for her to go back.

portrait panic part 3 247

Jae will also try to say a few words to convince her.

portrait panic part 3 249

Sadly, she won’t change her mind, but she will at least decide to tell you why she wants to stay at the party.

portrait panic part 3 250

Listening to the Fat Lady requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why you shouldn’t start this task if you are out of energy.

portrait panic part 3 252

There are bonus actions tied to your character, Jae, and the painting. Focus on those if you want to save some energy.

portrait panic part 3 256

The Fat Lady will explain why she isn’t going to leave the party.

portrait panic part 3 276

She will also say that Violet owes her an apology for ignoring her.

portrait panic part 3 277

Once again, you and Jae will try to convince the Fat Lady to change her mind.

portrait panic part 3 279

Sadly, she’ll make it clear that she’s not going anywhere. That was definitely not something you expected to happen.

portrait panic part 3 282

The idea will cross your mind, perhaps you could request Violet’s help in persuading the Fat Lady to exit the party. Jae will express his decision not to join you. You’ll assure him that the situation is nearly resolved, with only the task of inviting Violet back to the party and enlisting her aid in convincing the Fat Lady to depart.

portrait panic part 3 286

Jae will point out that the other portrait subjects might return to the party after seeing Violet do so. Either way, Jae will give up trying to fix things.

portrait panic part 3 289

He will be pretty unhappy with the way everything turned out.

portrait panic part 3 290
portrait panic part 3 291

You’ll tell him that you never wanted him to miss any of his birthday rituals. Jae will say that you didn’t bother to ask if he wanted your help. He will point out that his birthday is ruined, and moments later, he will leave the courtyard.

portrait panic part 3 293

Shortly after he leaves, Penny will approach you.

portrait panic part 3 297

You will wonder how she can always be so positive. She’ll explain that she simply tries to see the silver lining in everything. You will ask her if there’s any silver lining in your current situation.

portrait panic part 3 300

She’ll smile and say that you can still fix things. She will advise you to go on with your plan and try to return all the portrait subjects to their paintings.

portrait panic part 3 303

Her kind words will give you the confidence you need to fix things.

portrait panic part 3 305

This will mark the end of Part 3 of the Portrait Panic adventure. Hit the Collect button to claim your reward. You will receive 3 Gems.

What will happen next? Will you be able to fix everything and avoid getting detention? Find out in the final part of this adventure!
