Proceed to the Alchemy Room when you are ready. When you arrive, after a brief conversation, Nicholas Flamel will say that today’s lecture is about success and failure, and how they are both necessary for the pursuit of knowledge.
You will also notice that the hall is quite large and crowded, and your task is to keep an eye on the crowd in case someone tries to snatch it. Shortly after, Flamel will begin his lecture.
To scan the crowd, you need to earn five stars within three hours. The five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Mr. Flamel. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

Mr. Flamel brought with him a failed attempt at creating a Philosopher’s Stone for his lecture. The Philosopher’s Stone is the ultimate goal of alchemy—it can prolong life and transform objects into gold. This Failed Stone was one of his earlier attempts, which he kept as a reminder of the importance of perseverance.
By showing it to you today, he hopes to inspire you never to give up on your dreams. Following that, Merula will say that she will never give up on her own ambitions, and that this is just one of the many qualities that make her a great Slytherin.
There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Then Nicholas will approach you and add that the lecture went wonderfully, but that he now needs some rest. After he recovers at Hogwarts, he would like a tour of the castle, and he hopes that you, Merula, and Penny will show him around.

Go to the Clocktower Courtyard to continue the story. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say.
However, when you arrive, only Penny will be waiting for you. She will look a bit puzzled and ask what you think might be the reason for Merula’s absence.

In any case, you’ll decide to plan the Hogwarts tour for Flamel without Merula. You’ll need to plan it carefully, since Flamel, at his age, can’t walk too much, so you should think about which places he would appreciate the most.
To plan the tour, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

You’ll first decide to show him the Potions Classroom. Potioneering and alchemy are closely related, and Mr Flamel might appreciate seeing the equipment and supplies. Next, you’ll walk Mr Flamel up the Grand Staircase, showing him the magical paintings along the way. This will give Mr Flamel plenty of chances to rest as you stop to admire the art.
After that, you’ll make your way to the library so Mr Flamel can review books about alchemy. While you’re arranging everything, you’ll receive a letter from Mr Flamel requesting an urgent meeting in the Great Hall.
You’ll need to wait three hours before you can continue.
Head to the Great Hall once the waiting time is over. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say.
When you arrive, you’ll see Mr Flamel extremely agitated. He will ask you to listen carefully, as something catastrophic and dangerous has occurred.

You’ll learn that the Failed Stone is missing. Since returning to Hogwarts, he hasn’t been able to find it. He’ll add that the Failed Stone is dangerous because, although its power is unstable and limited, it is still a potent magical object capable of causing harm.
Then he will ask if you might have any theories about what could have happened. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

You’ll ask him what would happen if someone tried to use the Failed Stone. He will explain that a disaster could occur, as he is primarily worried about your fellow students meddling with powers beyond their capabilities. Alchemy is the most dangerous pursuit for those who lack experience and wisdom.
After a brief discussion and analyzing the events since your return to Hogwarts, you, Penny, and he will begin to suspect that Merula might be involved. You will agree that Flamel should inform Dumbledore while you and Penny search for Merula.
Go to the Training Grounds to continue the story. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say.
There, you will encounter Barnaby and Ismelda. When you ask them if they know where Merula is, they will say they don’t, but something will seem a bit off. Barnaby will appear as if he is hiding something, prompting you to begin questioning him.

However, just as he is about to tell you what Merula was talking about, Ismelda will step in and threaten him, warning him not to say anything and adding that she would tell you where Merula is.
There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

In any case, he will decide to tell you. He will say that Merula mentioned she got hold of an important alchemical object and wants to use it to brew the Elixir of Life. He’ll also add that the last time he saw her was in the Potions Classroom.
Proceed to the Potions Classroom when you are ready. You will find Merula in the process of making the Elixir of Life. You’ll try to stop her, but of course, she won’t listen. There are two different options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

You’ll tell her that Mr Flamel said the Failed Stone is dangerous and that if she tries to use it, someone could get hurt. However, she will respond that Flamel also said never to give up on your dreams, so she won’t let you ruin this. She’ll insist that she is determined to make the Elixir and become a legendary witch. Since we can’t allow her to do this, we will have to stop her.
To hold off Merula, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. The five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

However, your fight will be interrupted by Liz, who is looking for her little frog. To everyone’s surprise, her frog will appear and hop right onto the stone, swallowing it. Merula will quickly grab the frog in her hands, but as soon as she does, her hands will turn a shimmering golden color, leaving her extremely distressed.
