The Case of the Missing Pets Part 2

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 2 of our Walkthrough for The Case of the Missing Pets Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous part, you met with Penny, who informed you about the mysterious disappearance of pets at Hogwarts. Penny sought your help, knowing your expertise in solving mysteries. You gathered with your friends to listen to their stories about the missing pets, hoping to uncover the cause and find a clue. After hearing their tales, you discovered that the vanished pets were mostly near Hagrid’s garden and the forest.

This led you to visit Hagrid, but he was absent, leaving only Merula watching over Fang. Merula mentioned Hagrid’s sudden departure to Hogsmeade. While searching, you found a trail of birdseed in Hagrid’s garden, raising suspicions about its connection to the missing pets. Returning to the castle, you received an urgent owl from Mr. Filch, who, upon meeting, accused you and your friends of Mrs. Norris’s disappearance. Now, you plan to meet with Penny to share your findings and discuss your next steps.

(Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a graduate student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 2 and above, some dialogue, the star, and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress with the main story.)

Proceed to the Clocktower Courtyard when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll greet Penny and tell her that you have bad news, and that is that Mrs. Norris has also gone missing along with the other pets.

You’ll add that Mr. Filch is blaming you for it. Penny will express sympathy for him but suggest that he shouldn’t react so strongly in such stressful situations. Then, she’ll ask you how you feel after talking to Filch. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Then you’ll say that there’s one thing you learned from Filch, and it’s that pets are still disappearing, which means the culprits are close and you can catch them. You’ll suggest that you talk together and go through everything you’ve learned to figure out what to do next.

To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Penny and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

When you finish, you’ll learn that Penny saw Hagrid, who returned from Hogsmeade and she’ll add that he was quite upset. You’ll wonder if what he investigated in Hogsmeade could be related to the case. You’ll also mention that you could ask him to explain the birdseed in his garden. This line will differ based on your previous choice. 

Penny will then wish you luck and say she feels you’re on the right track. You’ll thank her, and then you’ll head to see Hagrid.

Go to Hagrid’s Garden to continue the story. You’ll ask Hagrid if he has a moment to talk with you since you have much to discuss.

You’ll say that you wonder if whatever it was might be connected to a case you’re working on, but you’ll notice that he seems very concerned, and you’ll ask him if everything is okay.

He’ll then tell you that there isn’t much time and that he’ll quickly explain what’s wrong. 

To learn what’s happened, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to the trail of bird seeds, Hagrid, and flower. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

When you finish, you’ll find out that even Fang is missing. Fang was there last time you visited, which means this happened recently, and the culprits are likely closer than you think. You’ll tell Hagrid that Fang is among the numerous pets that have disappeared, and that’s why you’ve come to talk to him. 

Hagrid will be very upset when he hears that, adding that now that he knows about the other pets, he’s even more worried. You’ll try to calm him down and reassure him that everything will be okay and that you’ll find Fang.

You’ll then ask him if he can explain the trail of birdseed in his garden. This line will differ based on your previous choice. 

Hagrid will respond that the trail is puzzling to him because he doesn’t keep birds in his hut. He will also add that if it’s a spill, it’s a bit odd to see it in a straight line like that. You’ll thank Hagrid and then ask him if he spoke with Merula since she was the last one who was with Fang.

Following that, Hagrid will ask you what you think is happening to the pets. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

You’ll assure Hagrid that you’ll find the pets, and then you’ll decide to go talk to Merula to gather more information.

Proceed to the Clocktower Courtyard when you are ready to meet with Merula. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you see Merula, you’ll tell her that you need to talk to her.

You will get additional lines of dialogue if you blamed Merula for the pet’s disappearance in the previous choice.

Otherwise, you’ll tell her that you still don’t know what’s happening with the missing Hogwarts pets, and you’ll mention that the situation has worsened with Fang’s disappearance. Then you’ll ask her if she saw anything while she was with Fang before he disappeared that could help you solve this case, and she will accept to tell you what happened.

When you finish the discussion with Merula, she’ll want to see if you were paying attention, and she’ll ask you what Fang was doing right before he disappeared. There are three different options to choose from. The correct answer is ”Barking ”.

You’ll comment that Fang was barking because he might have sensed danger nearby. Merula will say she was keeping a careful eye on things and didn’t see anything out of the ordinary, just the birdseed you noticed before. You’ll tell her that Mr. Filch also saw birdseed when Mrs. Norris disappeared, and Penny mentioned that others also saw the same thing.

You’ll say Hagrid mentioned it was strange that the bird seeds were arranged in a straight line, leading you to think that someone intentionally left that trail for you to follow.

You’ll suggest following the trail, and Merula will agree with you, saying it’s a halfway decent theory. She’ll mention that if someone left a trail for you to find, then the pets aren’t just lost but have been taken against their will, and they need your help.
