Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough section for The Serpent and The Egg Part 2 of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery! Previously, a second Horned Serpent unexpectedly arrived at the reserve, drawing concern and curiosity. With help from Liz and Hagrid, you discovered that both serpents are guarding a magical egg, hinting at a deeper connection between them. Now, as Hagrid seeks advice from a trusted friend, you prepare to learn more about this rare event and how to support your magical creatures through what lies ahead.

Proceed to Hagrid’s Garden when you are ready. When you arrive, you will ask Hagrid if he’s ready to share his concerns about your Horned Serpent’s egg. He will say that he is, and add that he believes he knows what’s going on.

To discover Hagrid’s concern, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. Three stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Hagrid and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

You’ll learn that Horned Serpent eggs can be quite temperamental and need very specific conditions in order to hatch properly. Due to the intelligence of Horned Serpents, the failure of an egg to hatch can be emotionally devastating for them. 

Hagrid will also mention that a large oceanic cold front is approaching, which could spell trouble. Since the egg is currently exposed in the open ocean, it’s vulnerable to the changing conditions of the sea, and that might be exactly why Red was making those warning sounds.

He will suggest that you speak with his friend, Madam Blackbird, who specializes in North American magical beasts. He’ll add that she can help you come up with the best plan to ensure the egg hatches safely and under the right conditions. 

There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

In any case, you will agree to meet with Madam Blackbird and discuss the situation with her to figure out the best way to help the egg.

Go to the Open Ocean to meet with Holly. You will thank her for coming to help. If you haven’t met Holly Blackbird before, you’ll get additional lines of dialogue to introduce her. 

Following that, she will explain that Horned Serpent eggs need warmth to hatch, and if there’s a cold front coming in, Hagrid is right to be concerned—it could seriously harm the egg. You’ll then ask her if she could walk you through the details of the hatching process.

To learn about egg hatching, you need to earn five stars within one hour. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Madam Blackbird and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

You’ll come to understand that Horned Serpents are cold-blooded creatures, and just like some other cold-blooded creatures, they often bury their eggs in sand to keep them warm. That gives you an idea — maybe you could bury your Horned Serpent’s egg to protect it from the cold! Then, when the time comes for it to hatch, you can safely return it to the nest.

Madam Blackbird will agree that it’s a great idea, but she’ll also point out a challenge: while your Horned Serpent trusts you, Red doesn’t. He might not let you take the egg. She’ll then ask what you think is the best way to safely retrieve the egg. The correct answer is “Earn Red’s trust”.

Madam Holly will suggest heading over to Hagrid’s hut for a nice cup of tea, where she can give you a few helpful pointers on how to earn Red’s trust, especially since she’s starting to feel a bit cold out here.

Proceed to Hagrid’s Hut when you are ready to discuss the plan. Once you arrive at Hagrid’s hut, Madam Holly will tell you that she knows some very effective bonding tactics. You’ll decide to discuss these strategies with her, hoping they might help you gain Red’s trust and ensure the egg’s safety.

There’s a bonding tactic known as mirroring—it involves copying a creature’s movements and behavior, and it can be an effective way to build trust. It could even help you communicate your peaceful intentions to Red.

However, there’s a bit of a risk. Confidence is key when mirroring a magical creature. If you’re unsure or hesitant, your actions might be misinterpreted as a threat rather than a gesture of trust.

Madam Blackbird will then ask you how you feel about attempting to mirror a Horned Serpent in its own territory. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Madam Blackbird will suggest that you use the Bubble-Head Charm, which will allow you to communicate underwater. Here you will get different lines of dialogue depending on whether you know that spell or not. In any case, you’ll decide to return underwater to attempt to earn Red’s trust, 

To move on to the next part of the adventure, you’ll need to earn full stars in an 8-hour project. You can choose any task from the provided list to complete this requirement.

While doing this task, it is recommended to select the duration that matches this star requirements.

Prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever they are available.

Try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional attribute points.
